THE GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION



Located in the northeastern region of Vietnam, Ha noi 170 km way
Northeast, Ha Long Bay is part of the Northern Gulf, including the
waters of Ha Long city, Cam Pha town and part of the District of
van Don island.



Ha Long Bay borders Cat Ba Island in the southwest, the east is the
East Sea, adjacent to the land portion that runs about 120 km
coastline.


HISTORY

Ha Long means "Dragon down," before the 19th century the name Ha
Long Bay has not been recorded in our ancient country records, which
is known as Luc Chau, Luc Thuy, An Bang, An Quang, Hai Dong, Hoa
Phong, Nghieu Phong .... Up to the end of the 19th century, the name
Ha Long Bay appeared on the French navigable maritime map of the
Gulf of Tonkin and on some articles in French and Vietnamese.
However, according to legend the ancient name Ha Long was derived
with stories about dragons down to help Vietnamese people fought
against foreign invasion.


THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS




[1] The tectonic history of the limestone geology of the Gulf has spent about 500 million years with the ancient geographical
circumstances are very different; and complete Karst evolution spent over 20 million years with a combination of factors such as
the thick limestone floors, hot and humid climate and lifting the slow tectonic process on the overall.



[2]. The combination of climate, environment, geology, geomorphology, Ha Long Bay become clusters of biodiversity, including
ecosystem-evergreen forests tropical rain and coastal and marine ecosystems with many minor ecological system.

[5] Thousands of animals and plants are found in the bay.

Ha Long Bay - World Natural Heritage with thousands of
large and small islands are set up on the vast ocean of Ha Long
sea, each island has its own appearance, island has Sung Sot
cave, island has Thien Cung cave, there is Trinh Nu cave…
Tuan Chau is the only land island in the Heritage area in
addition to the natural beauty of pine forest, The lake and
beach of the island also carries the vestiges of Vietnam's
history.

Ha Long Bay is one of the ancient Vietnamese settlements with three
successive cultures dating from 18,000 to 3,000 years: Soi Nhu culture,
Cai Beo culture and Ha Long culture.



Ha Long Bay is a place that holds many tangible and intangible cultural
values such as : Tien Ong relics, Me Cung, Thien Long ...customs still
preserved from ancient times to today such as: dancing, singing
exchange of love, wedding ...At present, the existence of fishermen
community living in the core area of the Heritage area is a characteristic
feature of the glorious Ha Long culture.

CULTURE
Ha Long Bay is recognized as a national and world heritage:
Ha Long Bay is ranked by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism as the National Monument (in 1962).
Ha Long Bay was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural
Heritage Site (twice in 1994 and 2000).
Ha Long Bay was recognized by the Prime Minister as a Special
National Monument (on 12/8/2009).
Ha Long Bay was announced by New7Wonder as one of the 7 new
natural wonders of the world (11/11/2011).
