El Kowm is a very interesting place. It is a town in the desert in Syria.
Now El Kowm is in the desert, but a long time ago there was grass there. It
is between two mountains. It is 240 kilometres north east from Damascus.
Scientists are working in El Kowm because it is very old. They think that
people lived in El Kowm thousands of years ago. There was water in
El Kowm, so people wanted to live there. Scientists think there were
many animals in El Kowm.
