Preface
Purpose

This document describes how to install on site a A9120-BSC with mutipair
cables of ALCATEL 900/1800 subsystem.

1.3 Prerequisite
The site conforms to the "safety rules" of General Wiring Handbook
The site is ready to receive the racks, according to the SPP 27
The following equipment must be installed before operations :
— cable tray
— ground plate
— DDF for 2Mbits cables
If any of this equipment is not installed before the operation, contact the
ALCATEL person responsible for the installation and record it in the CCL
document.

1.4 Initial State
The racks and installation kits are packed and delivered on site
The site is ready to receive the racks, according to the customer SPP-27
document.

The racks are ready for commissioning.
The racks are not powered up.
All the PCM cables between rack and site DDF must be installed for each rack.

2.1 Before Leaving for the Site
Check that prerequisites have been
satisfied

Check availability of all Information
Required

Check availability of documentation

edition and release of the documents.

Check availability of tools

See Tools Required (in appendix B) ; refer to the “Tools
catalogue“ for checking the content
Check calibration label when asked.

Check availability of supplies

2.2 Before Starting (on Arrival at the Site)
Check applicable notifications and
operation instructions


Refer to “Applicable notification list” (ITL) to check whether
notifications are to be applied during the operation

Refer to “Applicable operation instruction list” (IO) to check
whether operation instructions are to be applied during the
operation
Check that the safety instructions have
been applied

Refer to “General Wiring Handbook” to check that the
safety precautions have been taken in accordance with
the safety instructions

Read instructions in the event of anomaly

Refer to “General Wiring Handbook” for instructions

Fill in premises inspection form

Refer to “BSS site premises inspection, post handover” and
complete “Premise inspection form” (CEL)

Fill in completion check list

Complete the header field of the “Completion Check List”.
See “Tools catalogue“ and note measurement
The CCL is to be completed as each instruction is carried
out

Check the antistatic wrist strap


Check that the resistance of the antistatic wrist strap is
greater then 1 Mohm and connect it to the rack’s earth

Check availability of Alcatel kits

3 Racks installation
This chapter describes how to :
Move the racks to their final locations
Unpack the racks
Prepare the racks already in operation
Position the racks
Level the racks
Assemble the racks together
Assemble the horizontal cable way

The extension rack must be assembled with operating racks.
Before making mechanical installation or connection, ensure that the general
safety instructions are applied (see General Wiring Handbook)

3.1 Rack Delivery

Procedure

1. Check the number of packages.
2. Report any damages on the carrier’s delivery note.
3. Unpack the equipment.
4. Inspect the racks for cracks, scratches, damages to boards ...
5. Check the serial number
6. Complete the CCL

3.2 Mechanical Assembling
3.2.1 Racks Positioning

Procedure

1. According to the site documentation drawings, mark out the location of
the rack(s) on the ground.
2. Move the racks to their final location.

3. Position the racks in order A, B, C, D.
From the front of racks, the On/Off switches are visible.

4. Using the four levelling plates and a spirit level, level the rack(s) and adjust
so that there is 10 mm clearance between the racks and the floor.

The racks are not attached to the ground.
If feets are not needed, remove only the levelling plate (part 1 and 2 in Figure).
Parts 3 and 4 must be let into the frame.

Procedure

1. Assemble the racks together without tightening the screw (1 in Figure9 ).
2. Insert the spacers (detail) on the screws between the rack (3 in Figure).
3. Insert the bottom contact rails (2 in Figure).
4. Tighten slightly the screws.

5. Fit the bottom contact cover plates (using M6 self theading screws)

1. Remove the rear cable clamp from top structure.
2. Fix the top structure to the rack (4 screws).

3.2.4 Side Panels Fitting

Procedure

1. Fix the 3 panel supports at right side of the last extension rack.
2. Fix the 2 side panel earthing brackets (1) at top of the last rack.
3. Screw the screws 1AD 00007 0146 to the side panel without tightening them.

4. Position the right side panel (2).
5. Tighten the fastening screws.
