Chapter 1 Overview
The Multi-carrier cBTS3606 is developed to expand the capacity and improve the
flexibility of the CDMA. This chapter introduces the new function of multi-carrier
cBTS3606. It enables the operator to add the number of sector carriers only by
upgrading software and modifying configuration (no need to add hardware for a single
cabinet). Thus, the capacity is expanded.
The TRM (CMTR) of each multi-carrier supports three carriers (three different channel
numbers at the same band class) at most. That is, CBTS3606 supports three times
capacity of the original multi-carrier at most and supports CDMA2000 1X and
cdma2000 1xEV-DO.
The single cabinet of the CBTS3606 with the full configuration S (6/6/6) supports 18
sector carriers at most.

2.2 Hybrid Configuration of Single Carrier and Multi-Carrier
The hybrid configuration of single carrier and multi-carrier helps when handover or
emergency occurs. The hybrid configuration of single carrier and multi-carrier
indicates:
Both the TRM (CTRM) of single carrier and multi-carrier can be used in multicarrier cabinet. The TRM (CTRM) of single carrier is only configured with the
CHPA of single carrier and the TRM (CTRM) of multi-carrier is only configured
with the CMPA of multi-carrier.
The TRM (CTRM) of single carrier is configured with the CMPA of multi-carrier or
the TRM (CMTR) of multi-carrier is configured with the CHPA of single carrier in
a multi-carrier cabinet.
2.2.1 Hybrid Configuration of the CTRM and CMTR
The CTRM can be configured with the CMTR. If the two boards that connect to the
CDDU are
Both CTRMs, the sector supports two carriers at most.
One CTRM and one CMTR, the sector supports four carriers at most.

Both CMTRs, the sector supports six carriers at most.
2.2.2 Hybrid Configuration of the HPA and TRM
The CTRM can be configured with the CMPA.
If the CMTR is configured with the CHPA, one carrier is supported (this method is not
recommended). This carrier must be provided by the CCPM/CECM 0 and
CCPM/CECM 1.
In all, if the type of TRM and HPA do not match each other, the TRM can only support
one carrier.

Chapter 3 Hardware and Software Configuration
of Multi-carrier
This chapter describes the hardware and software configuration of multi-carrier.
3.1 Software Configuration
The software of V200R001C04 or higher versions support multi-carrier.
3.2 Hardware Configuration
The requirements for the hardware are as follows:
The BTS3606 multi-carrier cabinet with six CCPM slots support multi-carrier. The
BTS3606 single-carrier cabinet with four CCPM slots do not support multi-carrier.
Currently, only a few BTS3606 cabinets with four CCPM slots are used.
ODU3601C does not support multi-carrier.
For hardware configuration of other boards, see the version configuration table of
each product.

Chapter 4 Configuration of Multi-Carrier BTS
This chapter describes how to configure the multi-carrier BTS.
4.1 Key Points of Data Configuration
This section describes the key points of data configuration.
4.1.1 Resource Pool
Multi-carrier BTS supports resource pool. Two CCPMs are configured in each
resource pool at most. The resource pool is composed of the upper and lower
CCPMs.
If two CCPMs are in the resource pool, this resource pool only supports the TRM in
one RF subrack. Carriers provided by the resource pool are as follows:
The resource pool composed of CCPM 0/CCPM 1 provides the first carrier to all
the TRMs of the corresponding RF subrack.
The resource pool composed of CCPM 2/CCPM 3 provides the second carrier to
all the TRMs of the corresponding RF subrack.
The resource pool composed of CCPM 4/CCPM 5 provides the third carrier to all
the TRMs of the corresponding RF subrack.
4.1.2 TRM Configuration
To configure a TRM, the following items are included:
Configuring the physical TRM.
Specifying the sector carrier on certain carrier of the TRM. Use the parameter
[TRM, CPLID] to identify this carrier.
4.1.3 Combined Cabinet Configuration
The combined cabinet is used to support multiple band classes in one BTS. If the
parameter EXTFIBPN is specified in CCPM configuration, the combined cabinet is
configured
To configure the combined cabinet, pay attention to the following items:

The channel unit connected to the LECM is configured in the lower part of the
main cabinet (slot1, slot3, and slot 5).
The LECM is consistent with the channel unit slot connected to the LECM. The
mapping is as follows:
Slot 0: channel unit 1
Slot 2: channel unit 3
Slot 4: channel unit 5
The channel unit used for the combined cabinet cannot be used for the TRM or
ODU of the main cabinet, and do not support the daisy chain.
4.2 Configuration Examples (Configuration of Key Point)
The following describes how to configure the key points of the multi-carrier BTS with
the software of the CBTS3606 V200R001C04 as an example.
Note:
For the configuration of the other parts, see Appendix BTS Configuration Script.
Pay more attention to the words in red.
Typical configuration script refer to the Accessory.
