A. Danh từ đếm được: dạng số ít/số nhiều
Các danh từ đếm được có thể có dạng số ít (singular) hay dạng số nhiều (plural).

B. Sử dụng a/an trước danh từ đếm được số ít

Trước danh từ đếm được số ít bạn có thể sử dụng mạo từ a/an.

thế nào ...

- A dog is an animal.

- Tim's father is a doctor.
Cha của Tim là một bác sĩ.

- Are you a good driver?
Bạn là một tài xế giỏi phải không?

- Jill is a really nice person.

Chúng ta nói một người nào đó có a long nose (một cái mũi dài)/a nice face (một khuôn mặt
đẹp)/a strong heart (một trái tim dũng cảm) ...

- Jack has got a long nose. (KHÔNG dùng the long nose)

dụng some):


- Dogs are animals.

- Most of my friends are students.

- What awful shoes!
Thật là một đôi giày đáng ghét!

- Jack has got blue eyes. (KHÔNG nói the blue eyes)

D. Danh từ đếm được số nhiều và some
Bạn có thể sử dụng some với các danh từ đếm được số nhiều. Chúng ta sử dụng some theo hai
cách:

some = một vài, một đôi, một phần

•

- I've seen some good films recently. (KHÔNG dùng 'I've seen good films.')

•

Thời gian gần đây tôi đã được xem một vài phim hay.

- Some friends of mine are coming to stay at the weekend.

•

Một vài người bạn của tôi sẽ đến nghỉ cuối tuần.

- I need some new suglasses. (= một đôi kính mát mới)
Tôi cần đôi kính mát mới.

Không dùng some khi bạn nói về sự vật một cách tổng quát.

- I love bananas. (KHÔNG nói 'some bananas')
Tôi thích chuối.

- My aunt is a writer. She writes books. (KHÔNG nói 'some books')
Cô tôi là một nhà văn. Cô ấy viết sách.

Đôi khi bạn có thể sử dụng some hay bỏ nó đi cũng được.

- There are (some) eggs in the fidge if you're hungry.
