Usage:
*Use to talk about an action which started in the past
and continuous up to now.
Ex: I have been a teacher for more than ten years.
* Use to talk about an action happened in the past do
not identify the time
We can use the Present Perfect with
unspecific expressions such as: ever, never,
just, so far, already, yet, since, for, up to
now,…..
PAST PARTICIPLE:
* REGULAR VERB: BARE INFINITIVE + ED
EX: WANT → WANTED
VISIT → VISITED
CLOSE → CLOSED
STOP → STOPPED
*IRREGULAR VERB: V3
GO
→ GONE
BEGIN → BEGUN
TELL → TOLD
BUY → BOUGHT

Usage:
* Use the Simple Past to express the idea that an
action started and finished at a specific time in the
past.
Ex: I saw him yesterday
*Use the Simple Past can be used with a duration
which starts and stops in the past
Ex: My father worked as a lorry driver 20 years
ago
* Use the simple past to talk about a regular action
in the past
Ex: I often went to school in the afternoon
We can use the simple past with past
time expressions such as : yesterday,
last day/month/year, ago, in(year),
when I was a child…..

The present perfect is used with for when the
actions have not finished yet:

(I still live in Victoria.)
The simple past is used with for when the actions
have already finished:
Ex:
I lived in Victoria for five years.
(I don't live in Victoria now.)
