Dạng bò động được thành lập bởi be + ed (phân từ quá khứ)
Trong câu bò động, túc từ của động từ chủ động trở thành chủ ngữ của động
từ bò động:
Active:Columbus discovered America.
Passive:
America was discovered by Columbus.
***Ghi chú:
Chỉ có ngoại động từ (nghóa là, động từ có túc từ theo sau) được dùng ở dạng bò
động.
Dạng bò động được dùng khi can nhấn mạnh việc được làm hơn là người làm việc
đó, hoặc khi người thực hiện hành động không được biết rõ:
Active:The thief stole my wallet.
Passive:
My wallet was stolen. (more usual)
