I. Introduction:
English 12, Part 1 is the first book compiled under the English upper secondary education pilot
program.
The book is designed to communicate, to help students through the use of phonetics, vocabulary,
grammar, to develop communication skills in English in four forms of listening, speaking, reading
and writing.
In English 12, Part 1, psychological age of students and cultural characteristics of Vietnam and
other countries in the world, especially in English speaking countries and countries in the region,
are focused.
English 12, Part 1 is compiled around two themes that are close
to students: our lives and our society.
After each theme is a review focusing on linguistic and
language skills that students learned and practiced.

- The book’s appealing and attractive.
+ Cover: High quality paper, quite thick, glossy and nice.
+ Professional design, clear layout.
+ Many lively and colorful illustrations.
II, Skills
- The book English 12 adequately cover the skills that are required.
- If it is a conversation class, the course book doesn’t teach conversation skills. It is merely a
speaking course.
- A writing book has a process to writing.

A reading book look to develop reading section followed by
comprehension questions.
Whatever the situation, the coursebook always fit the class syllabus.
III, REALISTIC
- English 12 book use authentic language. It seems to-true-life and current.
- English 12 book is up-to-date
→ Decide what is authentic and balance it with words.
Conclusion
- English 12, Part 1 is a LEARNING CENTER, in which students are the subject of the
teaching-learning process, instructors are facilitators, organizers of classroom activities,
helping students to communicate effectively.
- English 12, Part 1 is based on the practical experience of teaching and learning
English in high school in Vietnam.
