UNIT 14. WHAT DOES HE LOOK LIKE?
Lesson 3. Part 1, 2, 3
I. Objectives:
By the end of this lesson the SS will be able to pronounce the sounds of
the letters th in the words this, that, thin, thick respectively.
II. Teaching aids:
1. Teacher's: book, lesson plan, computer and board.
2. Students': books, notebooks.
III. Procedure:
A. MAIN ACTIVITY
Warm-up
- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by calling some
pupils to the front of the class to sing the song What do they look like?
Have the class listen and clap their hands.
1. Listen and repeat
- Tell the class that they are going to practise saying the questions and
the answers.
Work 1
- listen and follow in their book.
- pay attention to saying the sounds of the letter -th in red words
- Listen again and repeat all the words and sentences twice
Work 2
- some ss act out in class, others observe and give comment
B. PRACTICE ACTIVITY
2. Listen and tick. Then write and say aloud.
- Tell the class that they are going to listen and practice saying the sounds
of the letter th in red words


Work 1
- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen first. Play
the recording again for them to repeat the sentences twice.
- read the sentences in silence and do the task
Work 2
- practise reading in groups, pairs, individually.


Work 3
- some ss act out in class, others observe and give comment

3. Let's chant
Work 1
- read each line of the chant This is my family, (listen to the explanation of
new words)
- listen to the chant a few times and do choral and individual repetition
line by line

- some groups chant in class, others sing along and clap hand
- class sings a song again and claps their hand a few times
C. APPLICATION ACTIVITY
- Read the chant aloud and clap the hands

Lesson 3. Part 4, 5, 6
I. Objectives:

By the end of this lesson the SS will be able to read and write and do a
project about appearances
II. Teaching aids:
1. Teacher's: book, board, papers and lesson plan
2. Students': books, notebooks, papers
III. Procedure:
A. MAIN ACTIVITY
Warm-up
- Greeting
- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson. Get two groups of
five pupils to go to
the front of the class to say the chant This is my family. Ask the rest of
the class to listen and clap their hands.
B. PRACTICE ACTIVITY
4. Read and write


Work 1
- Get them to read the text to and answer questions.
- Set a time limit for them to do the task independently.
Work 2:
- leaders hold group compare the answers in pairs
Work 3
- share answer in class, give comments and correct
- some pupils write the answers on the board
- check and read the passage again.
Key:

5. Write
- Tell the class that they are going to write about their last visit to the
zoo.
Work 1
- read the cues, and guide what ss have to do: write about their family
(describe the appearance).
- Set a time limit for them to do the task individually. Monitor the
activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Ask them to think about what to say about their family members (e.g.
name, age, job, hobbies, appearance). Have pupils work in pairs or groups
to discuss what they are going to talk about.

activity and offer help, if necessary.


Example:
This is my father. His name's Long. He's 34 years old. He's tall. He's a

C. APPLICATION ACTIVITY
- Ask a few Ss to describe their family members to the class. Then
ask the
class questions about these pupils' families and see if they can remember
the answers.
- Give feedback and praise.

Lesson 1 – Part 1,2
I. Objectives:

- use the words and phrases related to the topic Festivals.
- ask and answer questions about popular festivals, using When is +
(festival)? It's on ...
II. Teaching aids
1. Teacher's: student's and teacher's book, pictures, computer
2. Students': books, notebooks, workbooks.
III. Procedures
A. MAIN ACTIVITY
Warm up
- Spend a few minutes revising the previous unit. Get some pupils to
go to the front of the class to talk about their family members (e.g. My
mother's name is Lien. She's a nurse. She works in a hospital in the town.
She's slim and tall.)
1. Look, listen and repeat
- Tell the class that they are going to read a story about what Tony wants
to do in the future.

Work 1
- look at the four pictures and answer the questions: Who are they? Where are
they? What are they talking about?

- listen to T's introduce each picture
Work 2
- Listen to the recording a few times


- listen and repeat line by line
- say the words in each bubble
B. PRACTICE ACTIVITY
2. Point and say
Work 1
- look at the pictures and Identify the patterns to ask and answer about
festivals.
When is + (festival)? It's on ...
example: When's Children's Day? -- It's on the first of June.
- elicit the vocabulary (appearances)

- practice asking and answering in group

- give comments and correct their pronunciation
Work in pairs
- identify the task: talk about when the festival is.

- Write what festival they know in the notebooks.
- Share what they learned with family

- look at the pictures, focus on the time. Then look at the sentence under
each picture and guess what to do. Check understanding
