3. Introduction on the thesis
During recent years, exportation of shrimp and catfish of Vietnam to US and EU market has
contributed remakably to the seafood exportation turnover of Vietnam and promote development of
shirmp and catfish production business. However, commercial barriers in US and EU market has
causes many obstacles and damage to both exporters and millions of raw shirmp and catfish
farming workers. Therefore, a research for solutions to overcome commercial barrier to promote
exportation of shirmp and catfish to US and EU market is very essential. The research to find a
solution to overcome commercial barrier in US and EU market in this thesis focuses on the
following main content: (i) Systematize available commercial barrier to seafood in genenal, shrimp
and catfish in US and EU market; (ii) Actual situation of exportation of shirmp and catfish from
Vietnam to US and EU market and existing commercial barriers that shrimp and catfish exportation
is facing with; (iii) Existing solutions to overcome commercial barriers that applied by exporters
and experiences to overcome commercial barriers on shirmp and catfish exported to US and EU
market from other nations; (iv) Factors affecting to implementation of solutions to overcome
commercial barrier and recommendation to complete solutions to overcome commercial barrier on
shirmp and catfish exported from Vietnam to US and EU market in the coming time.
4. Academic contribution of the thesis
Based on theory and practical reseach, options to overcome barriers on shrimp and catfish
exportation from Vietnam to US and EU market has been proposed in the thesis. These are practical
solutions and would be effective after implementation. Among solutions for inovating organization,
production and management of shirmp and catfish exportation in the orientation of linking

responsibility and benefit among individuals and organizations relating to shirmp and catfish
production to make it into a chain, eliminating fragmentation and noncooperation, even opposing
one another in the system that requires the close coordination for strong development are the new
contents in management of production in trend of sustainable development.
