Creating Awareness
• Assessments: A variety of assessments are available to support the coaching
process, depending upon the needs and circumstances of the individual or
business. Assessments provide objective information that can enhance selfawareness, as well as awareness of others and their circumstances; provide a
benchmark for evaluating progress. (Source: International Coaching Federation)
• Personality Tests / Assessment Tools : many different instruments available to
provide insight to an individual's character or psychological makeup -- how people
perceive the world and make decisions. (Nature vs Nuture??)
• Personality Tests: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator [Extravert/Introvert, Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling,
Judging/Perceiving], Hogan Personality Inventory, DISC Assessment [Dominance; Influence; Steadiness and
Conscientiousness], Gallup Strength Finder, etc.

• 360o Assessments: (Self, Peers, Boss, Subordinates):

Center for Creative Leadership® Assessment, OPM
Leadership 360 , Denison Leadership Development Survey, Multi-Source assessment & Feedback (MSAF) – Army’s
Training & Doctrine Command, etc.
TM

• Mindset: Fixed vs Growth

Disclaimer: Army does not endorse any specific Personality Test or 360 Assessment Tool.

Experience the Energy
 Focus Energy Balance Indicator (FEBI): “a validated
psychometric instrument that measures 4 energy patterns
in the nervous system that map to 4 factors of personality,
4 ways of moving, and 4 essential modes of leadership.”
 When you enter the physical state of a particular pattern,
the rest of the mind-body system tends to follow, and out
come the behaviors of that pattern expressed in a way
that’s natural to you.
 Experience the energy patterns -- get a felt sense of your
own preferences for these energies, and how to access
and use each one
