What is

Responsibility?

Doing my best to take
care of the things around
me that need to be done.



“I don’t like making my bed,”
I told Mom. “It’s hard, and it
takes me so long.”



“Will you please make
my bed for me, Mom?”



“Sure, but it will take away from
the time that I would use to do
other things for you,” Mom says.



Then she asks, “Which one of
my jobs can you do for me, while
I make your bed?”

“I could serve
myself breakfast,”
I answer.



“That’s something that you already
do. Isn’t it?” Mom replies.



“Yes! Then, I’m not sure.
There’s nothing else for me
to do,” I said.



“If I make your bed, can you
make my bed?” asks Mom.



“Or maybe you can wash the
breakfast dishes or do the laundry
for me while I make your bed.”

I’m thinking about it.
