 Topic 1: Talk about you and your family
1. What is your name? Can you spell it?
2. What are your interests outside work/study?
3. How many people are there in your family? What are their jobs?
4. Where are your parents from?

5. What do you usually say and do when you meet a new friend?
o Answer:
Hi. My name is Dung. D-U-N-G. My hobbies are going shopping,
cooking with my mother. There are 5 members in my family: father, mother,
older sister, older brother and me. My father is an engineer. My mother
teaches Literature in a school. My older sister is a policeman; my older
brother is a businessman. And me, I’m a student. My parents come from Hai
Phong city. When I meet a new friend, I often say Hi to them, take them
home and cook a big meal to greet them.
 Topic 2: You meet a new business contact in a hotel where a business
conference is being held. Answer his questions:
1. Where are you from?
2. What’s the reason for your visit?
3. What is the weather like in your country?
4. Where are you staying?
5. What’s your hotel like?
o Answer:
I come from Vietnam. I come here to attend the business conference
and enjoy the autumn here. In my country, it’s cool and dry in this season.

I’m staying in a hotel near the conference. It’s very nice with helpful staffs
and modern facilities.
 Topic 4: Talk about your work
1. What is your job?
2. When are the busy times for you?
3. When are the quiet times for you?
4. What do you want from work/study?
5. What do you like best about your job/study?
o Answer:
I’m an accountant now. For me, there are many busy times. One of
them is the time of auditing, I’m very bust and I have to stay up late by 2-3
a.m. My quiet time is in the summer after the auditing season. From work, I
am developing my skill and getting more years of experience. I like the job so
much, especially the income it gives to me. Thank to this job, I can work very
hard and earn much money
 Topic 5: Talk about your day

1. What time do you get up in the morning?
2. Where and when do you have breakfast?
3. What do you usually do in the morning?
4. What do you usually do in the afternoon?
5. What do you usually do in the evening?
o Answer:
Every day, I get up at 6.30 am. After that, I have breakfast with my
parents in the kitchen. In the morning, I often go to the university and
attend courses. In the afternoon, my classmates and I often go shopping or

go coffee. Evening is the time for night clubs around West Lake or I just stay
at home and listen to music on the Internet.
 Topic 6: Talk about your leisure activities
1. When do you usually have leisure time?
2. What do you like doing to relax?
3. What do you usually do at the weekend?
4. How often do you play sports?
5. How often do you read books?
o Answer:
I usually have leisure time in my free time at night. To relax, I often
watch TV or surf the Internet to get news. At the weekend, I go to the
shopping malls with friends. I rarely play sports because I’m pretty lazy. I
read books once a week.
 Topic 7: Problems with your work/study
1. What is your biggest problem in learning English?
2. What do you need to do to learn English better?
3. How can your friends help you learn English?
4. What are other problems you have with your work/study?
5. What do you need to do to solve them?
o Answer:
In learning English, my biggest problem is speaking. To learn English better,
I think that I should practice more regularly. Sometimes, my friends and I type
the messages in English to improve English source. While learning, I think that
learning new words also is a big problem. To solve it, I have to work harder to
remember new words

 Topic 8: Travel

1. How often do you travel?
2. Where do you like to go?
3. What means of transport do you like most? Why?
4. What means of transport do you hate most? Why?
5. What is important to you when you travel?
o Answer:
I go travelling twice a year. I like going travel in Vietnam. I like travelling by
train most because it helps me to see the beauty of the land easily. I hate
travelling by bus because I suffer from car sick and vomit the whole time. When
I travel, I think the travel-mates are very important because if we are in good
relation, the trip will get perfect and vice versa.
