1. Writing task: Compare and contract Natural food and GMF.
( 8,5 điểm)

Nowadays, Natural food and Genertically modifined food ( GMF) are
popular in our life. When comparing them, we can see several outstanding
similarities and difference between them. There are two similarities that both
GMF and natural food share. First one is that they can protect the environment
because they need fewer chemical fertilizers and pesticides which decrease
the greenhouse effect. Another similarity between natural food and GMF is
that they have good taste and rich nutritious values. GMF contain more flavors
and increase the amount of nutrition. Natural food not only have natural
flavor but also full the “ life – force” of nature, which along with vital vitamins
minerals and phyto – nutrients lead to a positive natural state of physical and
mental health and vibrancy. Although they bear some sameness, thi distinction
between natural food and GMF are remarkable. First of all, they are different
in shelf life. The shelf life of GMF is more than that of natural food, implying
that people can store it safely for a longer duration. On the contrary, since
natural food is minimally processed, many food items which have a high water
content have a subsequently, shorter shelf life. Another difference between
natural food and GMF is price. GMF is cheaper than natural food. Bacause GM
crops allow farmer to control factor that determine the price of food. They are
weather, food quality, transportation. On the otherhand, natural crops depend
entirely on weather chemicals fertilizers and pesticides that cause difficult in
rasing them.

Besides organic farming, thanks to the advances of technology, nowadays,
foods are also producted by modifying the genes of plants and animals. While
both of them are similar in nutritional value, the differ in regard to
productivity, quality and price. One outstanding similarity between organic
foods are GM foods relates to the nutrition. In organic farming, crops are
growth. Therefore, they contain high level of vitamin C, protein and provide
more nutritional benefits for those who consume them. Likewise, GM crops
may manufacture foods with no herticides, no pesticides and more nutritional
value by changing or modifying genes especially among those that are
previously short of the essential vitamins and minerals. However, organic and
GM foods are different in some ways, the most noticeable of which is the
quatity and the quality. Farmers cannot expect a good variety of foods from
natural farming as chemicals are not used in these farms to enhance the rate of
the growth of harvests. Moreover, they quickly because of the lack of artificial
preservatives. Though genetic engineering, on the contrary, the genes are
altered to be disease – resistant, pet – resistant, to product more, to enhance
the natural qualities of food and lead to more efficient and profitable farming.
It is possible to maintain food’s freshness and extend food life without relying
on preservatives. Another remarkable difference is the uneven price between
organic and GM foods. Lower production rates and higher cost as overhead for
labour make organic foods more expensive. Owing to GM methods, on the
other hand, crop yields become incredible with lower costs, which means that
food prices would go down and are cheaper than other foods. When
comparing, organic and GM foods might have the same nutritional value, they
have several significant differences. There is no doubt that, in the future,
technology will continue to progress, researches may invest new good
producting methods.
