1. IELTS academic writing test
Task 1: You will be asked to describe some visual information
(graph/table/chart/diagram), and to present the description in
your own words. You may be asked to describe and explain data,
describe the stages of a process, how something works, or write
about an object or event. You need to write 150 words in about
20 minutes.
Task 2: You will be presented with a point of view, argument or
problem. You need to write 250 words in about 40 minutes.

2. IELTS writing academic task 2
Sample question
A person’s worth nowadays seems to be judged according to
social status and material possessions. Old-fashioned values,
such as honor, kindness and trust, no longer seem important. To

what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples
from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.


3. IELTS general writing test
Format:
Task 1: write a letters in a personal, semi-formal or
formal style (150 words)
Task 2: Write an essay by giving reasons for your
answer and including examples from your own
knowledge or experience (250 words)

3.1.1. Informal letters
Sample question
You are looking for a full-time job. Write a letter to an employment agency.
In your letter:
introduce yourself
explain what sort of job you would like
say what experience and skills you have
Begin your letter as follows: Dear Sir/Madam
You should write at least 150 words. You should spend about 20 minutes on
this task.


3.1.2. Formal letters
Sample question


You stayed at your friend’s house when you attended a
conference in Australia. Unfortunately, you left a large envelope
with some important documents in your room. Write a letter to
your friend. In the letter:
thank your friend for the stay
describe where you left the envelope
ask him/her to return it to you by post

You should write at least 150 words. You should spend about 20
minutes on this task.


3.1.3. Semi-formal letters
Sample question

You are going to take a short holiday in Singapore and you want
to rent a holiday apartment while you are there. Write to the
tourist information office. In your letter:
explain what you need
say when you plan to be there
ask for information about prices

You should write at least 150 words. You should spend about 20

3.2 IELTS general writing task 2
Task 2:
Disruptive school students have a negative influence on others.

Students who are noisy and disobedient should be grouped
together and taught separately.
Do you agree or disagree with this view? Give reasons for your
answer and include any relevant examples from your experience.
You should write at least 250 words.


4. FCE writing test
The writing test has 2 part
• Give your opinion about a statement.
• Choose one of three questions to write
• ( It may be a review, an article or a
report )




• KET writing test is integrated with reading test,
so there are 3 parts:
 Part 1: guess the word according to the
suggestion.
 Part 2: Fill in the blank of a letter.
 Part 3 : Write a letter (25-30 words) to answer
the questions.
