Unit 7: World population
Listening skill
1. Class description: … students grade 11A , … high school
2. Time: 45 minutes
3. Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
a. Knowledge:
- listen and understand the dialogue about the world population growth.
- Use flexibly some words related to topic world population.
b. Skill: listening, reading, speaking
c. Competence:
- General competence: self-study, problem- solving, communication, cooperation, using
language.
- Specific competence: listening multiple choice questions and comprehension questions.

d. Attitude:
e. Qualities: confidence, independence
4. Assumes knowledge: Students have already known some vocabulary items
related to the topic.
5. Anticipated problem(s): There may be time left, so the teacher should prepare
an extra listening exercise.
6. Teaching aids: Book, board, chalk, a cassette, a tape or a disk

1. Warm-up (5m)
2. Pre- listening: (6mn)


a. Activity 1: Answer the questions (3mn)
- Ask Ss to discuss the question in pairs
- Call some Ss to give their answer and
comment on the answer.

- Ask Ss to compare their answer with a
partner.
- Play the tape once more to help Ss get
the correct answer.
- Check the answer with the whole class

b. Task 2 (11mn)
- Ask Ss to read the questions and
underlined the key words.
- Check if Ss can answer the questions in
task 2 without listening again
- Play the tape for Ss to listen and answer

- Guess the answers.

- Listen to the tape and do the task.
- Compare the answers with their friends.
