Topic 1: Describe a friend that you spend a lot of time with
Friendship is very important for everyone, especially me. During my studying from
elementary school to university, I have a lots of friends. But the friend I like to spent a lot
of time with is Kieu Anh . I met her when I was a freshman in Water Resources
University. After we joined in Viet Nam national union of students and do a lot of
activities together, we became best friends.
Kieu Anh is very beautiful and she was Miss of WRU in 2013, she also is a kind person,
intelligent and talented. Besides, she is passionate about reading books and that makes a
good bonding with me. We often change our thought and opinion about books and life. In
our freetime, we really like to shopping, chatting and hang out together, it makes us have
a good time to relax after hard working.
I like to spend time with her because we have many common interests between us. I
never feel bored spending time with her. Since we are friends a long time, we understand
each other. A good friend always extends helping hands when in need and I've found
Kieu Anh by my side always. Although, she has to move to HCM city to learn in the
fourth years but we still keep in touch by facebook, skype,… and share with each other
everything in normal life. . Good friendship, understanding and common interests makes
us close friends and those are the major factors for what I like to spend time with her.

swimming teacher. She idolizes an American swimmer Michael Phelps. She is very
special to me because of all her has done in her life, won a lot of medals for the country,
try her best with her passion and never lose the faith. The 19 years old girl teach me that I

I have been to many cities in Vietnam but the the place I like to visit all the time is my
home town. I was born in Phu Yen province, it is a small urban area with full of beauty
and wonder. Green trees, fresh air and serene environment make it an ideal place to live
in. Phu Yen has the long beautiful beach with yellow sand, it’s a suitable place to relax in
the holiday.
Whenever I get vacations, I plan to visit my hometown. To go there, I need to go to Sai
Gon railway station to buy the ticket. It takes 11 hours to go by train.
My hometown is a special place for me beacuse I have spent my childhood there. I ‘ve
been lived there about 18 years in my whole life and have a lot of memories with.
I love my hometown very much and I’ll try my best to learn and support a lots for my
hometown.
Topic 10: Describe the teacher whom you impressed most
I consider myself lucky to get several very good teachers throughout my highschool
years. And the most impressed person with me is Mr. Ma Son, my mathermetic teacher.
I met Mr. Ma Son when I was in class 10 in LVC high school for the gifted and he our
math teacher. Firstly, we thought that he would a moody teacher and we would have to be
very polite in front of him. This impression came mostly beacause of his serious face. But
soon we found that, he is a very friendly person and teachs us very well. He never made
thing complicated and tried over and over to explain something to us.
Seems like he would start an interesting story and later we would find that he would
relate the math with the story. Thus everything we learned from him was interesting and

that's why we remember most of the theory and techniques of math he taught us.
Before I learned math from Mr. Smith, my impression on math was not good and I
considered mathematics to be a very difficult and uninteresting subject. But his teaching
and influences changed my way of thinking about math and later on math became my one
the most favourite subject.

activities and it’s the key to success.

I come from Phu Yen, the small province in the middle of Vietnam. And my house is
located in Tuy Hoa city. Today, I’m going to tell you about the weather in my hometown.
There are 2 seasons: dry season, rainy season, and each is special and beautiful in its own
way. The dry season is usually from January to June, it’s gonna be very hot and dry, so

the people can go to the beach and enjoy swimming. After the dry season ends, the rainy
season comes. It’s rain a lots and the weather is cooler than dry season. The trees, plants,
flowers can grow up fast in this season beacause of the suitable weather.
For me, the dry season is something speacial for me. I get terrible hay fever in the rainy
season, so I find the temperature much more comfortable in dry season and I can be a lot
more active and do more things. I can hang out, so to the beach or go camping with my
family and makes a lots memories to love my family more than this.

back. I study in the Binh Duong provonce and visit my hometown 3-4 times in a year.
That time I got a week’s holiday and I planned to give surprise to my family members. I
reached home at around 1.00 am and my parents were very happy and surprised. They
became even happier when they heard that I have got a vacation for 7 days.
The next day we went to the village and visted my grandparents. In the next morning we
started our journey in our automobiles. Next day we went to a nearby picnic spot and that

was a very pleasant experience. We cooked our food and to our surprise, that was
delicious. We played outdoor games, ran in the fields and swam in the water. This was a
truly great day that I enjoyed.
In the evening, we went to visit the nearby river and enjoyed the open and fresh air. In the
evening we returned home and had our dinner together. My 7 days’ stay in my hometown
passed very pleasantly and quickly. The next day I returned to the city. This holidays I
had is a memorable one as I get very little chance to meet and spend time with all of my
family members at a time.
Topic 4: Describe a TV programme that you like

I do not watch TV that often nowadays but when I was a student, I used to watch
televisions a lot. There are lots of programs that really liked and watched regularly. In
those days I watch mostly news and some selective TV programs. The TV program that
made a strong impression on me was called “ Vietnam, hidden charm” that I watched on
VTV1.
The TV was a serial that had around 20 episodes. I watched all of those episodes and
enjoyed a lot. In our local time, the program was broadcasted at 8.30 pm every Monday.
The program showed the life, the beauty of the wonders and the Vietnamese people. The
tour guide in this programme travel around our country and share the experiment with the
daily work of the famer, the fisherman or see the view in the highest mountain (
phanxibang 3143m) to the audiences.
I have learned so many things about those experiment they made and after watch this, I
can more proud of my country and realize a lot of beauty of VietNam. I hope you will
watch this once time.

present. In the future I want to become an famous engineer in the international company
of water supply and drainage in HCM city.
The job responsibilities of an engineer involve being creative, designing, discovering to
Controll water losses through leaks in water supply systems. Because water is one of the
most important resources, so we have to save it for the future. Today, I’m studying WRU,
and 2 more years I ‘ll graduate. To find a good job, with a high salary, I have to study
hard in the university and improve my English skill more and more.

The challenges, excitements, and the opportunity to solve the problem of water leaking in
Vietnam are the main reasons I am interested to be an engineer.
Though I am not sure about the future but I have already planned for it. Because I believe
proper planning and practice everyday will make my dream come true.
Topic 8: Describe your favorite means of transport
There are many means of transportation in my country. People in the urban areas usually
have their own cars, motorbike or they use the public transport like bus.
My favorite means of transportation is a motorbike. I got this motorbike when I was 19
years old . First I used to travel on a bus, but after getting the motorbike my life got a lot
of easier. There are some advantages of have 1 motorbike, it’s help you more convinient
to travel wherever you want, event it’s a small road and no car can enter it. And the price
of a motorbike is suitable for Vietnamese people. But there’re also some disvantages, it
make a bad effect to the enviroment ,also create pollution and traffic and it’s not a good
idea to go by motorbike when it’s rain.
Topic bonus: Describe a subject at the university that you like most
The subject that I'd like to describe is Chemistry that was taught in our university. We
had this subject in the first year about 2 months, with 6 periods each week.
This is the subject I found the most enjoyable when I was in high school. The subject
involved both theoretical and practical part. We studied chemical theory on the class and
then spent time doing some experiments . The aim was to illustrate the knowledge we

have learned from theory. We had a lot of fun because sometimes we succeeded and saw
many nice reactions, but sometimes we failed and had to do the experiment all over
again.
Well, I’m interested in Chemistry for some reasons. Firstly, I have to admit that this

subject was easy for me, and I always got very high grades in Chemistry. Another reason
is that this subject helped me to understand the nature of many reactions that happen in
our bodies. I guess this is because I have always been curious since I was small.
