First of all, I would love to express my deepest gratitude to all the
lecturers at Halong University, to my friends and my family who had
guided me in finishing my internship. I am grateful your help in
encouraging and sharing your experience which will bring me good
preparation to get ready for my life in the future. Especially I would like
to express my biggest respect to Ms Nguyen Thi Hang and Mr Nguyen
Thanh Long who have guided and supported me a lot in this internship.

INTRODUCTION
In the past few years, along with the trend of the market economy, Vietnam's
economy has strongly developed and the position of Vietnam has been improved
in the international market. In the trend of globalization, integration and
development with the new and open policy of the economy and foreign policy
"Vietnam wants to be friends with all the countries in the world” has been
making a big improvement in tourism. The number of international tourists
visiting Vietnam is increasing continuously and for different purposes such as to
relax, entertain, learn about customs and culture, enjoy the scenery and invest in
business opportunities. Vietnam has recently tried to promote investment in
developing the tourism industry when recognizing the strong and effective
growth that tourism can bring to the economy of the country. The state has taken
many appropriate policies to promote tourism development in order to bring the
country to the world and introduce the world to Vietnam. In order to make this
task in an effective way, apart from exploiting and preserving tourism resources,
training human resources and improving technical facilities in tourism
destinations are becoming one of the formal service sectors which contribute to

the economic growth of the country. In which the appearance of many domestic
and international yacht companies brings good signal for this industry.
Especially, this industry attracts millions of international visitors to Vietnam,
creating a huge source of revenue every year.

The tourism industry has long been considered the "No-Smoke Industry". Today,
it's a truly an important industry because it creates jobs for millions of people
which is a source of national income, an effective way to redistribute revenue
among countries and adjust the balance of international trade. With this
development, lots of organizations, investors have been taking the opportunity
to open companies, centers, businesses ... travel services. Indochina Junk Joint
Stock Company (Indochina Junk) was launched later than the other companies,
therefore, they are affected by the competition with tons of big and experienced


companies. However, Indochina Junk has gained valuable experiences to find out
reasonable adjustment. By doing so, the company now has a high position in the
heart of domestic and foreign tourists.

In order to catch up with the global development trend, Quang Ninh province has
continuously trained people in many fields to serve tourism services. Halong
University is developing and expanding, focusing on the training of English,
Chinese, Japanese, Korean, travel, business administration... With the help of the
school, students are given a lot of opportunities to have practical training at the
end of the course. In this program, lecturers have recommended students to
choose Indochina Junk as an internship site and this has brought valuable
experience after 20 days of internship at Indochina Junk, from June 4th to June
24th.

Chapter I: Introduction Of Indochina Junk (Indochina Junk)


1. Characteristics and location of the company
Indochina Junk Joint Stock Company is a leading provider of yachting
services in Ha Long Bay. The company aimed to achieve sustainable
development, along with environmental protection and benefit sharing with
local communities right from the first day of establishment. The company always
develops the business of tourism products based on the principles and standards
of sustainable development, promoting Vietnamese cultural traditions,
respecting the people and destination. Constantly trying to accomplish the
mission of "Action to bring the best, most sustainable benefits to the
environment, communities, customers, partners and members.

2. The formation and development of the company and its business
characteristics.
2.1 The formation and development of the company
Indochina Junk Co., Ltd was established in 2007. It is currently a leading
company in the field of tourism of the province with the unique tourism
products and good service quality. This is the reliable choice for domestic and
international tourists when coming to Ha Long, Quang Ninh. In order to
gradually improve the quality of services and attract tourists using the services,
the company has focused on building new tours, attractive destinations and
searching for services and new experience for visitors. This company has a large
number of ships including single - room ship and multiple room ship which can

meet different needs of customers. Now, the company has 15 luxury ships with
the brand of Indochina Junk.There are 12 wooden ships.include: L’amour group
has fours ships(C1,C2,C3,C4),each with a cabin; Dragon’s pearl group has three
ships( N1, N2,N3),each with ten cabins; Prince 1 has two cabins(H1); Prince 2
and Prince 3 ,each ship with four cabins(H2,H3); Dragon Bay ship has three
cabins (H4); And there are two iron boats (dragon Legend 1, Dragon Legend 2),
each of which has 24 cabins, with a maximum of 48 tourists. And one Red
Dragon with five cabins,and Fairy’s a new ship. These are qualified to serve highgrade tourists who stay overnight in Ha Long Bay ......... with the shipping lines as
follows: Hon Gai Vinashin - Thien Canh Son Bay - Hai Quan; Hai Quan - Vong
Vieng - Hon Gai Vinashin; Hon Gai Vinashin - Hon Non - Hai Quan. Since 2009,
the company has expanded its business with the construction of Yen Duc tourist
village, Dong Trieu dist. Visitors can experience the daily life of people in the
northern delta region, discover the beauty of culture, customs, and habits of
people here. In order to give more choices and prolong the length of stay of
visitors, the company has launched a tour of the city by electric car. This tour
offers visitors the opportunity to explore and discover attractive destinations in
the city, such as Ha Long Market, Vincom Center for Business, Museum and
Provincial Library, Bai Tho Mountain.
Apart from diversifying products and services, the company applies scientific
and technological advances into production and business activities. In addition
to fully provide working equipment for employees, the company has promoted
the application of online software in the working management and quality
management system in accordance with ISO 9001-2009 which can help the
company to decrease the working time of employees and increase the accuracy


of management. Indochina Junk actively promotes images, provide information
on products and services, travel on the media channels: Newspapers, magazines,
websites, social networking sites, fairs in the country and abroad. Also, the
company regularly organizes training, improve skills for the staff and employees.

In order to ensure the products and services of the Company meet the criteria of
"3 Star", every year, all the departments of the company base on the needs and
suggestions of employees to send training proposals to The Training Department
to submit to the Company's management for approval. Annually, the company
uses 2% of the total salary fund for training activities. Professional training
courses, the improvement of skills and foreign languages skills for the staffs are
organized regularly. The company has organized many training courses such as:
living and aspiration, professional working capacity, sales skills. Therefore, staffs
are constantly improving their qualifications and specializing in the style to
serve tourists.
The company has more than ...... employees from different regions in Vietnam.
The staffs are young, energetic, enthusiastic, friendly, experienced and have a
professional service. The company wishes to bring the best service quality
products to the customers.
In improving the quality of tourism services, Indochina Junk has invested 30
more cars, from 8 to 16 seats, with modern car equipment to simplify the way to
travel
The company has established and organized many programs in Quang Ninh
province such as:
- In 2005, the community tourism project was implemented in Binh Lieu,
Quang Ninh.
- In 2007, Indochina junk produced the program "For a Green Halong Bay"
- In 2011, The project of the community tourism was implemented in Yen
Duc village, Dong Trieu district, Quang Ninh province.
- In 2015, The company held the program "Ha Long, the green and clean
city".
The company has achieved some certain success, in March 2017 was officially
certified by Travelife Partner. Indochina Junk is committed to promoting
sustainable development and striving to become the No.1 tourism company by
2020.



On the website WWW.tripadvisor.com.vn, Indochina junk always owns a large
number of people who are interested. There are currently approximately 4,804
votes, in which 88% rate of "excellent", 9% rate of "very good", 1% rate of
"average", 1% rate of "good", 1% rate of "terrible".
Commenting on the services of Indochina Junk, Mr. Lee S from Cape Town (South
Africa), shared on Tripadvisor: "The trip exceeded our expectations. Staffs and
guides were excellent and made us feel very happy in being well-taken care. The
ship was very comfortable with an interesting journey. And especially, we love to
sail with the Kayak and visit the fishing villages. We will certainly recommend
friends to choose Indochina Junk"

2.2. Business Characteristics.
Indochina Junk focuses on the visitor’s experience by offering unique
services: Kayaking, exploring deep into the local life in the floating village, having
a BBQ lunch on the beach and swimming at a private beach in Bai Tu Long.
Customers will explore Ha Long Bay, Cong Dam area, Vung Vieng fishing village,
Yen Duc village, fishing trip….

design. If you have any special dietary requirements, their culinary staff will
carefully prepare your menu.
3. Organizational structure and the function of different departments of
the company
3.1 Organizational structure of the company


In order to ensure high flexibility and effective operation requirements, it
is necessary to organize the operation apparatus with the most reasonable and
optimal scale, all the problems in business must be handled in time. The director
manages the entire operation of the company, plans timely adjustments and
functional departments are directly under the control of the director. This
management relationship has the advantage of being compact in organizing,
information is ensured smoothly, the path of information is short. Therefore,
information deviation is negligible and can be consistent with the regime of a
leader. Tasks are governed by the principle of centralized management. This
structure ensures the resources to address key issues.
Organizational structure of the company has:

- Operating Department
- Customer Care Department
- Service Management Department
- Marketing Department
- Technical - Vehicle Management Department
- Security - Safety Department
- The Supplier Department
- Guidance Department

3.2 Functions of departments in the company


- The current director is Mr.Tuyen, the company's direct manager. The director is
responsible for the design and implementation of business programs and
strategies.
- Operation Department: The main function is to deliver information to the
relevant departments of the customer service information for different
departments to coordinate. This department also takes responsibility of
welcoming guests, check-in, check-out.


- Customer Care Department: is responsible for giving ideas and solutions to
improve customer satisfaction; handling issues of guest comments by tours.
- Service Management Department: is responsible for organizing, supervising
and providing services to customers.
- Marketing Department: The main function is to promote the image of the
company in the domestic and international scale
- Technical - Vehicle management Department: This department has the function
of maintaining all the equipment on boards
- Security - Safety Department: The major functions of this department are
protecting the safety of customers during the journey, giving fire prevention,
having storm prevention, etc.
- The Supplier Department: is responsible for providing goods to all the ships.
- Guidance Department: is in charge of welcoming guests, guiding guests
throughout the journey, supporting guests in getting accommodation, giving
them knowledge and helping them to experience all kinds of travel services.

Chapter 2: The Process And Results Of Student Internships At
Indochina Junk.

1. The process of the internship at Indochina Junk

1.1 The time and the process of the internship at Indochina Junk
- Time: From June, 4th, 2018 to June, 24th, 2018
- Process: Be able to experience in luggage monitoring, welcoming guests at The
Operation Department. Laundry service belongs to The Service Management
Department which will involve some aspects of The Supplier Department

2. The specific content of the internship at Indochina Junk


During the internship, the company has created favorable conditions for
students to understand the process of establishment and development, business
activities and organizational structure of the company. The student understands
clearly and fully about the work, rights and obligations, responsibilities of each
department. The student has been directly instructed by the staffs in order to
participate in the work in some parts of the company.

On June, 4th, 2018
The first meeting of the instructors and students with the Director and the staffs
of the company who directly instruct and work with students. All the staffs are
very easy-going and enthusiastic to introduce about the company. They are also
shared lots of experiences in practical life. Students can learn about the
professional working manner and appearance standards: do not talk too loudly
in front of guests, do not tattoo, the body is always clean when serving guests,
being clean and neat, clean breath, don't wear too big jewelry, remember that
customers are always right, etc. And especially keeping a good attitude and smile
with customers.
Students will take a 30 minutes test for 2 skills (Reading comprehensive and
pronunciation). And there is an interview about all the things about the job.

On June, 5th, 2018 and June, 7th, 2018

All the staffs at The Operation Department has directly instructed me to the
assigned tasks. And I was assigned the position of the luggage monitoring.
When the tourists get off with their luggage, I had to immediately check the tags
attached to each luggage. When all were correct, I got all the luggage and handed
over all of them to the ship's staff. When the tourists were about to leave, I had to
check the tags again and gave them the luggage. Also, I had to help them to move
with their stuff if they have some problems in carrying things.

On June, 6th, 2018


I worked with The Supplier Department to arrange import and export receipts
for all the ships.
I had to observe the way my friend welcome tourists and learn how to stand and
welcome guests.
I also had to talk to tourists about the topics that I have known and had
preparation.

On June, 8th, 13rd, 14th, 19th, 20th.
I have been involved in welcoming guests with the executives of the company.
They are very dedicated and fun. The work is highly concentrated from 11am to
2pm on the day, which is the most crowded time. Before the guests arrived, we
need to see the room list to be aware of the number of the cars, the number of
delegations, the name of each delegation, get the information about the services
for visitors. When they arrive, we need to open the car door and welcome them
with a smile and say "welcome to Indochina Junk." Then, we ask about the
information of each tour group, check the luggage of the guests and remind them
not to put electronic devices in the luggage in order to avoid all the incidents
which can cause damage while traveling. After that, we take them to the waiting
room, give each traveler a card with the name of the boat and instructors. Inform

them about the trip's time, the boat name and guide them how to use the room
services: food, drink, wifi ...
Answer any questions and requirements of the customer. Talk to foreigners to
increase the ability to communicate in English. Customers are very cheerful,
friendly and enthusiastic when they help students learn more languages and
other knowledge.
This job really has a lot of opportunities to contact directly with foreigners.
In particular, the afternoon of June 14th, 2018, all students were given
conditions to visit the Dragon Legend 2. The boat has 4 floors (including the
basement below sea level). The hotel offers a wide range of services including an
indoor restaurant, bar, swimming pool, spa, sun deck area for sport activities,
one-bedrooms and deluxe double rooms.

On June 10th, June 16th, June 22nd


I joined the laundry service department of the Service Management department,
checked the quality and the number of laundry products to deliver to the ship,
and unassembled items from the ship to the launderer. All the data collected
must be recorded in the paper.

On June 24, 2018
I attended the final meeting of the student internship with Mr. Linh, received the
sharing of officer's actual work experience, gained experiences and lessons
during the short internship at Indochina junk and took a test of the company
finishing the internship.
In the afternoon, I participated in the farewell program, listened to the speech
and received comments about the general assessment of students' internship in
three weeks from Mr.Tuyen - the company director, and Mr.Long, The Head of
Foreign Language Department of Ha Long University. Finally, I attended the

farewell party which was prepared by the students.

2.2. Internship results
During the internship, under the enthusiastic guidance of the students in the
company, I have collected a lot of useful information and exchange many skills to
serve my future career:
- Get to know the job, the responsibilities of each department in the company.
- Practice professional working styles and necessary virtues required in work,
the agility, flexibility, friendliness, openness, planning, and accuracy.
- Solidarity in work is a very important factor.
- Know some codes of conduct in dealing with colleagues and clients.
- Be more confident when communicating with foreigners, increase
communication skills with customers
- Can be able to orient my career in the future.

3.1. Experiences after the internship at Indochina Junk
Although I haven't had much practice and work, but it a good chance for
students to recognize and learn a lot of lessons for themselves. With any work so,
first of all you must have passion, love the job, try your best, initially overcome
the difficulties challenging. Tourists need to be persistent, agile, flexible in their
work, and able to handle high pressure, know how to arrange and solve tasks in
a scientific way.
Tourism is a service industry, motto "customers are gods" should always keep
smiling, friendly, need to improve language skills and communication skills.
When engaging in real work, it recognizes the importance of foreign languages.
In addition to the need to exercise health, first of all serve yourself and so serve
well for customers.

From the real work, the trainees themselves find many shortcomings in skills,
qualities, professional knowledge. So through practical experience, try to train
and improve yourself to meet the job requirements, as well as capture new
opportunities.

3.2 Conclusion
After finishing the internship at Indochina Junk, I will understand more about
the things that I will do in the near future and help me to apply gained
knowledge into practical work, learn from experienced staffs, gain more
knowledge and skills at work and improve the weaknesses. By doing so, I can
take a look back to myself to give their own decisions for my life in the future.
Internship can help me to understand my real ability and be more confident
when I am about to go to work.
In order to complete this internship report, I have received lots of good help and
guidance from lecturers at The Foreign Languages of Halong University and all
the staffs of Indochina Junk.
I would love to give my deepest thanks to Mr Nguyen Thanh Long, Ms Nguyen
Thi Hang, Ms Nguyen Thi Van Anh and other staffs at Indochina Junk who have
had great contribution to the success of this report!
