The table illustrates the number of hours people spend on
favorite past-times in different countries.
In general, although the number of hours spent on activities
varies according to nation, reading and television are
relatively popular. To specify, Canada, Australia and USA
follow a similar pattern. Television is the most favorite
activity of these countries with at least 60 hours in each,
followed by hobbies with around 40 hours. Sport and
reading, despite being at least fifteen hours as low as
hobbies, far surpass remaining activities by around five
times, except for beach in these nations.
By comparison, France and England which share quite the
same picture spend exactly 30 hours on reading, about 20
hours on hobbies and 4 hours on music. Meanwhile, other
remaining past-times, apart from sleep, see no record in both
nations. Korea and China, however, favor reading and
hobbies as the most common activities that far outstrip
television, sports by above 2 times and other past-times by
around 10 times. Strikingly, only in Japan do most activities
reveal no hour, except for reading with 62 hours.

In general, there was a gradual upward trend in the
proportion of households using these items through years
with television being the most popular choice.
