Sample answer
It is widely believed that advertising, not the real need of consumers, leads to the popularity

of a product. Personally, I strongly agree with such a statement.
Firstly, advertising promotes the sales of products by providing necessary information for
potential customers through the means of media, particularly TV, with huge coverage. As a
matter of fact, when in possession of a TV or a computer connected to the Internet, everyone
would see advertisements almost everywhere, which would help them to know more
specifically about their desirable goods. Compared to the past when the power of advertising
would not be enough to spark attention, people now have closer access to modern
commodities. Without advertising, producers would not be able to reach out to their buyers

owing to a struggle to introduce or popularize their new lines of product.

Secondly, I would say that under various circumstances, influential advertisements
manipulate people into purchasing something they have no need for. It is common that
images of sport or entertainment celebrities would be selected for commercial purposes,
inflicting huge impacts on buyers, especially their fans. For example, if Ronaldo, who is an
international famous football player, participated in a commercial advertisement on TV about
a new product line of men’s perfume, an enormous number of his loyal fans would buy those
goods. This is because they want to be like their idols or simply it is a way to express their
admiration and support.
In conclusion, I think advertising is factored in boosting the sales of a product in spite of the
insignificance of social needs for it.

CONCLUSION

Restate my favorable side

Sample answer
People have different views about the huge difference in salaries between sport stars and
people of other professions. In my opinion, I would argue that it is unfair for people
working in other fields.
On the one hand, some people have several reasons for their support for sport stars’ current
salaries. Firstly, they believe that becoming a successful individual in the field of sports would
require consistent hardwork and harsh training regulations. If those celebrities did not have
considerable determination, their chance of worldwide acknowledgement would be fragile.
Therefore, they truly deserve high salaries according to what they have to go through.
Secondly, they represent their countries to participate in international competitions, such as
the World Cup, to gain honor for their nations, which justifies their enormous earnings.
On the other hand, I would side with those who think that it is unfair for other people. Other
professions such as scientists or doctors are indispensable and much more essential for
social development and security. However, science or medical experts are paid much less
than sport celebrities regardless of their great contributions to techonological advancement
and health care. Furthermore, sometimes sport stars might set a bad example or cause
severe damage to the image of their country. All of those stars still receive huge payment and
sponsorships in comparison with that of scientists and doctors, which is a sign of unfairness.

In conclusion, I agree with people who think paying sport professionals much higher than
those who silently make contributions to society is unreasonable.

Sample answer
There are different opinions about whether visitors should comply with local traditions or
their lifestyles should be accepted. In my opinion, new patterns of belief and behavior
should be welcomed in a new environment.
On the one hand, there are a number of reasons why some people think tourists should
adhere to the new customs. Firstly, such adherence would enable them to integrate more
easily and quickly into the new environment. Clearly if a person who comes from the US
understood table manners or knew how to use chopsticks and , he would familiarize
himself with Vietnamese traditions after a few days. Secondly, following new customs in
the host country would play a part in avoiding social conflicts and, sometimes, hostility. A
sense of isolation and loneliness could be the price for those who refuse to adapt to the
new environment.
On the other hand, I would argue that it would be more suitable for a new way of thinking
to be warmly accepted. Culture diverges tremendously across different countries and
regions, depending on their historial backgrounds. Therefore, it is rather absurd to compel
tourists to comply with the host country’s lifestyles. In addition, such permission would be
a powerful leverage to develop the tourism industy of the host country. On being allowed
to behave according to their cultural standards, visitors would feel respected and
satisfied. Also of great significance is their recommendation to their friends and relatives
to travel to those places, leading to the growth of tourism.
In conclusion, I would agree with the people who support the idea of appreciating every
cultural difference.

Structuring the essay

Sample answer
Many people show preference for repeating their daily routine while others always look
for change as they believe change would bring more benefits. In my opinion, I would
agree with the latter point of view.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why some people only want to stick to their
routine activities. Firstly, simply they have passion for what they are doing everyday. For
example, street artists in Vietnam love creating colorful artworks in public without any
wish for change despite little earnings. Secondly, some people have merely adopted a
fear of uncertainty that prevents them from adjusting their ways of life. If they changed
their current jobs, for example, there would be no guarantee that other jobs would bring
the same level of satisfaction as the previous one. That would explain why they embrace
the repetition rather than change.
On the other hand, I would side with those who think change is better. People would have
the chance to undergo new exciting experiences. For example, instead of staying at
home to watch TV, some people could go on a mountain climbing or motorbike trip to
enjoy the open air. Furthermore, making changes in one’s life is believed to fortify his
characteristics or talents. When a person only focuses on what he is doing on a daily
basis, he would never know his limits or his potential. A song composer would never
discover his aptitude for singing if he did not get on stage to sing his favorite vocals.
In conclusion, although legitimate reasons for a life without change are vaired, I believe

adjustment to what one does repeatedly is a better choice.
