1. Time words and phrase
• Với các time words và phrase, ta dùng hiện tại đơn để nói về future. KHÔNG dùng will or be going to.
• Có thể đặt time words và phrases ở đầu câu.
Ex: as soon as we solve the problem, I’ll call you.
After
I’ll call you after we solve the problem.
As soon as
I’ll call you as soon as we solve the problem.
Until/till
I’ll call you until we solve the problem.
When
I’ll call you when we solve the problem.
While
I’ll call you when we solve the problem.
Before
I’ll call you before we solve the problem.
2. Although

Cấu trúc:
“although + Clause 1, clause 2”

Use: contrast – sự tương phản.
3.
Vị trí:
Although my homework was difficult, I finished it before bed.
= I finished it before bed, although my homework was difficult.
3. Despite/ In spite of
1.
Cấu trúc:
despite + N/ V-ing
In spite of + N/V-ing

Use: contrast.
3.
Vị trí:
In spite of revising for hours, I didn’t do well in the test.
= despite my revision, I didn’t do well in the test.
= I didn’t do well in the test, despite revising for hours.
4. However

Cấu trúc:
Clause 1. However, clause 2.

Use: contrast.
3.
Vị trí:
We believed that we could find a solution. However, we were wrong.
= We believed that we could find a solution. We were wrong, however.
5. Unless
1.
Cấu trúc:
“Unless clause 1, clause 2” = “ If … not” = except if …
2.
Use: conditional sentences.
3.
Vị trí: giống conditional sentences.
Unless you hurry up, you’ll be late.
