SUMARY - AIMS
“Of the 8.3 billion metric tons that has been produced, 6.3 billion metric tons has become plastic
waste. Of that, only nine percent has been recycled. The vast majority—79 percent—is
accumulating in landfills or sloughing off in the natural environment as litter. Meaning: at some
point, much of it ends up in the oceans, the final sink. If present trends continue, by 2050, there
will be 12 billion metric tons of plastic in landfills. That amount is 35,000 times as heavy as the
Empire State Building.” - National Geographic
Being created as a method to deal with plastic pollutant, Anti-plastic bag project is a simple yet
helpful solution to reduce the amount of plastic bag being used. As we all know, plastic right
now is one of the most trivial matter in the world as it only took nearly 800 years to become the
one of the heaviest environmental pollutant material.
This project is aimed at people with daily water needs. The fabric cup holder allows you to take
away a cup of coffee convenient or people who have a habit of carrying personal water bottles
with them. Instead of using one plastic bag once, in a few hours and letting them last for
hundreds of decades we can use the reusable fabric cup holder . Above all, they are made of
organic materials and the decomposition time is from months to years. Recognizing the need for
the use of cloth cup bags, we offer design solutions that create handy bag patterns. Below is a

detailed description of the project

In this section, I will review the project completion process from an individual point of
view.
Section 1:
In this section we raise issues to be solved and research the project such as the state of
plastics, the causes of plastic pollution, serious impacts on the Earth and the
consequences that are happening. Then we divide the work in accordance with the
skills of the team members. We have all 4 main tasks to complete: Completing the
designs, a poster,a brochure and the cup holder products.
Section 2:
We sketch illustrations of the global plastics situation and draw them on software. For
example, fish is trapped in plastic bottles, tortoise is eating plastic bags and some
quotes to encourage people to replace the using of plastic bags with cloth bags. We will
print them on cup holders
Section 3:
We sktech bag shapes and use fabrics to sew them on. I plan to go to buy cloths and
necessities. The other members sew my bag, I just support everyone because I'm not
really good at sewing. That was the first time I practiced creating a fabric product. We
meet together regularly, which helps us to finish sewing bags early. Then I painted the

color on the bag with pictures and the words "One Plastic, One thousand Lifetime" on
the real product.
Section 4:
After discussing with the teacher and our team members, we chose the phrase "One
Plastic, One thousand Lifetime" as the headline and developed ideas. Inspired by the
decomposition of substances, I came up with an idea that would make a comparative
image of a bag made of two different materials and place them on the ground, to see

the process of decomposition between fabric. and plastic. And the hand as the
affirmation "Be Organic". We unify the information on the poster as a reminder and a
warning. I use the software quite competently so we finished the design before the
deadline
Section 5:
Making a brochure takes longer than expected because ideas are not accepted by our
teachers. And we decided to develop from the poster to create a unity between the
products. The elements of the brochure are repetitive from the poster and Mai, a
member of the group, has put an idea that illustrates the two graves as a sarcasm to
people.
Section 6:
The final part is perfecting the real products and evaluation surveys. We give the fabric
bags we have made to the people around us and invite them to take a survey using the
google form. We think the project has somewhat changed the mindsets of people when

they agreed to use fabric bags instead of plastic bags. In my opinion, the project has
been an unexpected success because most people want to use cloth bags. Here is the
statistics table that I have collected.

SOLUTION
In this project I have a mission to organize and manage the project. Because of that, I
kept a record of the problems we encountered during the process to track the progress
of the project. During project implementation, a lot of problems occurred, however, we
tried to use personal skills to solve the problem and complete the work before dealine.
Some of the problems we encountered were:
Disagreement in design, I think this is a big problem and often happens when working in
groups. We chose to review the theory, analyze, evaluate, vote and get help from the
teacher to solve the problem.
We had problems buying materials to make bags. The fabrics we found in the city didn't
fit, and the necessities weren't enough, we had to order a sewing machine for making
bags.
The division of working in group means that each member has different tasks, but the
computers and software used do not match the versions, which makes it very difficult
to combine with other member. In addition, everyone has a different design style, this
does not make up the unity. One solution we applied is that all design files of all
members are transferred to me to evaluate and synchronize design elements.

We also have weather issues on the move, which greatly affects the duration of the
project.
We had trouble finding the right place to paint on our bags, we had to meet with the
principal of university and the building management to get permission to use the
common space for practice.
Another problem is that the prints, we have experience from the previous project, we
went directly to the printer to get the perfect prints.

LESSON
1. An effective way to work in groups is to listen, share and harmonize the opinions
of all members.
2. How to properly divide the work, suitable for each skill of the team members
3. Arrange a reasonable time, always monitor progress and follow the practice of all
members
4. Arrange individual and group tasks appropriately
5. Plan and make contingency plans for every worst case scenario
6. Soft skills such as communication, negotiation and persuasion are all highly
appreciated
7. Connect with team members anytime, anywhere via online applications or video
calls
8. There is an online memory for all members to access and save data anytime and
anywhere
