The #1 thing you should do first if you want to rapidly speed up the product

THIS IS

HERE IT ALL STARTS!
•••••••••••••

You've put in the time, front-loaded the work, and built your audience from scratch.
Now the real fun begins
~

Mediocre vs. great products: It's more work to create something great, but the payoff is
huge. You can do it!

~

Good doesn't have to mean perfect! In fact, you can create your first Minimum Viable
Product (MVP) in less time than you think:

"I am totally equipped to do a new product ... While there are many online programs with
bells and whistles, it doesn't HAVE to be that way. You can create something simple if
you focus on the problem and give the magic bullet." -ERIN s.

CREATING YOUR MVP:
START ITH THE OUTLINE

•••••••••••••

~

We always start with the most challenging part: the outline. Good news: Once you get
the table of contents right, everything else is easy

~

Give every lesson a compelling title:

~

Bad:

"Introduction to Budgeting"

Good:

"Conscious Spending: How to save hundreds per month
(and still buy what you love)"

A good TOC is a mini sales page. You want to show it to your readers and have them say,

"Shut up and take my money!"

NEXT, NAME YOUR PRODUCT
•••••••••••••

~

Keep it as clear and straightforward as possible

~

One formula that I like: Short & memorable followed by a 3-part subtitle

Examples:
~

The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich

~

Ramit's 6-Figure Consulting System: Advanced Strategies for Getting Better Clients,

CREATE A SIMPLE
PRESENTATION FOR EACH LESSON
•••••••••••••

~

Use Powerpoint,or Ket note to create a deck for each "chapter" of your TOC. Expect
each slide to take aro nd 1.5 minutes (i.e. 20 slides for a 30-minute video)

~

Your slides can be extremely simple

Why Your Opt-In Is SO Damn Important
• If you have a business (online or offline), your business IS your
customer list. No customers no business

=

• Your opt-in is the place or places on your website where your visitor
submits their contact information and joins your list
• If your opt-in isn't converting or is non-existent, you're leaving a lot of
money on the table
• You're also missing out on the chance to positively impact millions of
lives
• One of the best ways to get their email address is to give them
something valuable for FREE

FINALLY, RECORD YOUR VIDEOS
•••••••••••••

. ,. Use software (I recommend Camtasia) to record your screen while you talk
through the slides. Your laptop mic is fine
. ,. I like to sprinkle in a few personal stories so that I'm not just reading text the
whole time (I prep these beforehand)
. ,. Have fun with it! Talk like you'd speak to a friend. If you make mistakes, just
keep going and edit them out later

THIS DOESN'T
HAVE TO TAKE

LONG!

james
OK so it has been an intense few days. I had 9 hard yes
answers on payment so I decJde~d to go forward anyway. Made

1 9 videos (over 2 h total). Put them o~ n Wistia, embedded t he
V 1ide~os on a single page. Went back to 5 of the people who
were firm yesses, of(tered them the chance to be a beta tester
at a ~discounted pr·ce so long as they are OK with fi ing out a
detailed survey in 2 weeks and po~ ssibly a phone call. Fifteen
minutes later I have a sale.

LIGHTNING ROUND: PRODUCT

&A!

•••••••••••••

"How long should my product be?"
At a minimum, aim for 1 hour of content (3+ if it's a higher priced product)
"Do I need to get this designed?"
Not for an MVP. As you grow, you can invest in logos and templates

LIGHTNING ROUND:
PRODUCT &A! PART 2
•••••••••••••

"I recorded my videos-now what?"
Upload them to a video hosting site and embed on a private page or membership
site (we use Wistia and Wishlist, respectively)

"Do I need to 'drip' content out?"
Content drips do add to perceived value we use them but
aren't required for a first product

LIGHTNING ROUND:
PRODUCT &A! PART 3
•••••••••••••

''What about customer emails?''
It's a good idea to have at least one (we'll provide a sample in the Vault)

"How big should my email list be before I start selling?"
100

is the minimum, but more is better. Keep building your list!

LIGHTNING ROUND:
PRODUCT &A! PART 4
•••••••••••••

"Do you have to worry about piracy?"
Not right now. You should be so lucky that people pirate your material
"How do I launch it? What about affiliates? What about refunds?"

We'll cover all this in the Sales module for now, just focus on your product!

ACTION STEP #1

~

Outline your Table of Contents and come up
with a name for your product

~

Create Keynote or Powerpoint decks for each
of your lessons

~

Finally, screencast your videos and create
your product!

Time: 10 hours (worksheet provided)
