I.OBJECTIVES:
_Language content: To help the students use some words relating to presenting one side of an argument.
_Language function: By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to write a short passage about clothes.
_Educational aim: To help students have a chance to choose the suitable clothes.
1. Language:
a. Vocabulary: Therefore, In conclusion, Encourage, Equal, Self-Confident, Bear one’s name, Casual
b. Structures: + The simple present tense +Connectives: therefore…..
2. Skills: Integrated skills, Especially writing.
3. Educational factor: +Knowing how to choose the suitable clothes for certain places.
II.TEACHER AND STUDENTS’ PREPARATION:
1. Method: Communicative approach

2. Techniques: Correction, Chatting, Exhibition, Ordering, Using a model, Using reading, Sharing and Comparing.
3. Teaching aids: Flashcards.

a. Warm-up: Greetings.

I. Lead -in:
1.Chatting:
_Asks the students some questions:
+ Do you like wearing uniforms?
+How often do you wear uniforms?
+ How do you feel when wearing uniforms?
+If you have a choice, what type of clothing do you want to wear
when going to school?
_Tells the aim of the lesson to the students.
II. Pre-Writing:
1.Teaches new words:

(To give hope, support or confidence to somebody)
+ To be equal in [Explanation]
(Ba is 32 kg, Tan is 32 kg, too. They are equal in weight.)

2. Checking Vocabulary: Rub Out and Remember.
_Rub out a word in English and point to the Vietnamese

get students to come to the board and write the English words

_Sticks or draws the following table on the board.

argument.

which the content of the outline is written as follow:

They can do this task as a game. Group which has more strips

III. While-Writing:
_Asks the students to read the topic and Outline A.

their school?
+How do the students feel when wearing uniforms?
+Do the students have to think of what to wear everyday?

_Asks the students to read the passage to answer the question:
+ How is the argument organized?
_Asks the students to read outline B and answer the questions:
+What is the topic of the argument?
+Why should secondary students wear casual clothes?
_Tells the students to work in groups of 8 to discuss and get some
more ideas about the topic.
_Asks the students on their own to write a paragraph of 100-150
words to support the argument that secondary school students
should wear casual clothes, using the outline on page 19.
_Goes around and help the students if necessary.
IV. Post-Reading:
* Correction:
_When the students have finished writing, Let them compare
their writing and correct mistakes.
_Takes some writings to correct before the class.
_Asks one student to tell before class the content of the outline

+ Write the passage (after correction) into their notebooks.

I. Lead -in:
1.Pelmanism:
_Prepares ten cards with numbers(From 1 to 10) on one side and
the verbs on the other .
_Sticks the cards on the board so that the students can only see
the numbers, make sure the verbs are mixed up.
_Divides the class into two teams. Each team chooses two
numbers.
_Turns the cards over, if they match:
Ex: run-ran; that team gets one mark.
If not, turns the cards over again and asks the next team to

continue.
_Goes on until the cards are turned over. The team which has
more marks will win the game.
