NOTICE WHEN CHECKING THE FOLLOWING

Power door lock/unlock function:
The wireless door lock control function operates only when the following 3
conditions are met:
No key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder.
All the doors are closed.
The power door lock system operates normally.
HINT:
The unlock function operates even when a door is open.

b.

Power window open function:
The wireless door lock control function operates only when the following 3
conditions are met:

i.

No key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder.
Any door is unlocked.
The power window system operate normally.
Power window close function:
The wireless remote control function operates only when the following 4
conditions are satisfied.

No key is inserted into the ignition ley cylinder.
All the doors are closed.
All the doors are locked.
The power window system operates normally.
Power slide door and power back door open function:
The wireless door lock control function operates only when the following 4
conditions are met:

No key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder.
The power slide door or power back door main switch is ON (switch
free: orange paint on the top of the switch appears).
iii.
The slide door or back door is between the fully closed position and the
half-open position (When the door is in the fully closed position, the door will

be unlocked).
iv.
The power slide door system and power back door system operates
normally.
e.
Power slide door and power back door close function:
The wireless door lock control function operates only when the following 4
conditions are met:
i.
ii.
iii.
iv.

No key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder.
The power slide door or power back door main switch is ON (switch
free: orange paint on the top of the switch appears).
The slide door or back door is between the half-open position and the
fully open position.
The power slide door system and power back door system operates
normally.

Remote panic function:
The wireless door lock control function operates only when the following condition
is met:
i.

The ignition switch is turned off.

HINT:
The key can be inserted, however it must be in the off position.

The wireless door lock control operational area differs depending on the
situation.

i.

The operational area differs depending on the user and the ways the
transmitter is held.
In certain areas, the remote control function will only operate partially
for the operational area, which will be reduced due to the vehicle body shape
and the influence of the surrounding environment.
Since the transmitter uses faint radio waves, strong radio waves or
noise in the frequency used by the transmitter may reduce the operational
area and the remote control may not function.
When the battery is weakened, the operational area is reduced and the
remote control may not function.

HINT:
If the door control transmitter has been left in a place that is exposed to
direct sunlight, such as on the instrument panel, it may cause the battery to
be weakened or cause other related problems.


CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL FUNCTIONS
HINT:



The switch described in this text is a switch for transmitting signals.
This switch is built into the door control transmitter.
All the functions listed below must be checked in comparison with the
remote control operational area.

a.

Make sure that the vehicle is placed in conditions that allow the wireless
control function to be operated.
b.
Check basic functions.
i.

Check whether the LED of the transmitter comes on 3 times when
each switch is pressed 3 times.
HINT:
If the LED does not come on when the switch has been pressed 3 times or
more, it may have a dead battery.

Check that all the doors lock when LOCK is pressed.

Check that only the driver side door unlocks when UNLOCK is pressed
once and that the other doors unlock when UNLOCK is pressed again within 3
seconds.
Check that the power slide door opens or closes when the power slide
door switch is held down for 0.8 seconds or more.
Check that the power slide door reverses right when the power slide
door switch is pressed while the door is automatically moving (no delay).

Check that the power back door opens or closes when the power back
door switch is held down for 0.8 seconds or more.
Check that the power door reverses right when the back door switch is
pressed while the door is automatically moving (no delay).
Check that all the power windows close when the LOCK switch is held

down for 2.4 seconds and they stop operation when the switch is released
(manual operation).
Check that all the power windows open when the UNLOCK switch is
held down for 2.4 seconds and they stop operation when the switch is
released (manual operation).
Check the chattering prevention function.
Check that the corresponding operation occurs only once and is not
repeated continuously while the switch is held. However, when the switch is
operated repeatedly at 1 second intervals, check that the corresponding
operation is carried out.
Check the automatic locking function.
Check that the doors lock automatically as long as none of the doors
have been opened or all the doors have not been locked within approximately
30 seconds after all the doors are unlocked by pressing the UNLOCK switch.
Check that the automatic locking function does not operate when any
door has been opened or all the doors have been locked within approximately
30 seconds after all the doors are locked by pressing the UNLOCK switch.
Check the switch operation fail-safe function.
Check that the doors can not be locked by the switch while the key is
in the ignition key cylinder. However, this does not apply when the system is
in the recognition code registration mode.
Check the operation stop function when a door is open or not completely
closed.
Check that the doors are not locked by the switch while any door is
open or not completely closed and the wireless door lock buzzer sounds for 10
seconds.
Check the repeat function.

Check that all the doors attempt to automatically lock once again 1
second after the LOCK switch has been pressed while the movement of the
driver side door control knob, which is in the unlocked state, is being
restricted.

Check the hazard warning lights flashing and warning buzzer sounding
functions (answer-back).

When the LOCK switch is pressed, check that the lights flash once and
the buzzer sounds once, simultaneously with the locking operation of all the
doors.
When the UNLOCK switch is pressed once, check that the lights flash
twice and the buzzer sounds twice, simultaneously with the unlocking
operation of the driver side door.
When the UNLOCK switch is pressed again within 3 seconds, check
that the lights flash twice and the buzzer sounds twice, simultaneously with
the unlocking operation of all the doors.
When the LOCK switch is held down 2.4 seconds, check that the
buzzer sounds once and all the power windows start closing operation.
When the UNLOCK switch is held down for 2.4 seconds, check that the
buzzer sounds once and all the power windows start opening operation.

When the power back door switch is held down for 0.8 seconds or
more, check that the lights flash twice and the buzzer sounds twice,
simultaneously with the operation of the power back door.
Check the remote panic function.

Check that the horn sounds, the headlights and taillights flash and the
interior light remains on (when the light switch is turned to the DOOR
position) for 60 seconds by the theft alarm function, when the PANIC switch is
held down for 0.8 seconds or more. Also, check that the horn stops sounding
and the lights stop flashing when either switch of the transmitter is pressed.

HINT:









Register the recognition code when replacing the door control
transmitter or the door control receiver.
Add mode is used to register new recognition codes while still

retaining codes already registered. This mode is used when a new
transmitter is added. If the number of registered codes exceeds 4, the
previously registered codes will be erased in order, starting from the
first registered code.
Rewrite mode is used to erase all the previously registered
recognition codes in order to register all-new recognition codes. This
mode is used when the transmitter or the door control receiver is
replaced with a new one.
Confirmation mode is used to confirm how many recognition codes
have already been registered before another recognition code is
registered.
Prohibition mode is used to erase all the registered codes and disable
the wireless door lock function.
This mode is used when the transmitter is lost.
All the following registration procedures must be performed in order.

1. PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION OF RECOGNITION CODE (MANUAL
OPERATION:)
a. Ensure that the following conditions are met:
i.
ii.

No key is in the ignition key cylinder.
Driver side door is open (Other doors are closed).
Driver side door is unlocked.

b. When the above conditions are met, perform the following:
i.


Insert and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder twice.
HINT:
Complete this step within 5 seconds.

iii.
iv.
v.

Close and open the driver side door twice.
Insert and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder.
Close and open the driver side door twice.
Insert the key into the ignition key cylinder and close all doors.
HINT:
Complete this step within 40 seconds.

vi.

Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to ON and back to the LOCK
position at approximately 1 second intervals according to the number of
times shown below.

HINT:
If the number of ON-LOCK operations of the ignition switch is 0, 4 or 6 or
more, there will be no response (power door lock and unlock operation) to
show which mode has been selected.
vii.

Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder.

HINT:
Complete this step within 40 seconds.


viii.

The body ECU automatically performs the power door LOCK-UNLOCK
operation within 3 seconds after the mode has been selected and informs
the technician of the selected mode using the following response patterns.

HINT:




c.

When the confirmation mode or prohibition mode has
been selected, the registration procedure will be completed.
In the confirmation mode, when the LOCK-UNLOCK
operation is performed twice, the number of registered
recognition codes is 2.
In the confirmation mode, when 0 codes are registered,
the LOCK-UNLOCK operation is automatically performed 5
times.

If the add mode or rewrite mode has been selected, press LOCK and
UNLOCK on the transmitter simultaneously.
Press either of the switches on the door control transmitter again.
HINT:



iii.

Switches must be pressed for at least 1 second each
time. The second operation must be performed within 3
seconds after the first operation.
A recognition code must be registered in the door control
transmitter within 40 seconds after a selected mode is
responded to.

The body ECU automatically performs the power door LOCK-UNLOCK
operation within 3 seconds after the switch on the door control transmitter
is turned off, in order to indicate whether registration has been completed
correctly or not.

HINT:
If the LOCK-UNLOCK operation is performed twice, registration of the
recognition code has failed. Perform registration procedures from the
beginning once again.
iv.

If registration is continued, the next recognition code must be

registered in the door control transmitter within 40 seconds.
HINT:
Up to four recognition codes can be registered.

d. Completing the registration mode.
i.

The registration mode will cease when any of the following occurs:






40 seconds or more have elapsed after a previous registration
mode is input.
Any of the doors is opened.
The key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder.

e. Perform the following after registration is completed.
i.

Perform the wireless door lock control operation check (Click here).
HINT:
If the wireless door lock control does not operate, perform the registration
procedure again.

2. PROCESURE FOR REGISTRATION OF RECOGNITION CODE (USING
INTELLIGENT TESTER)
a. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

b. Select the add or rewrite mode according to the intelligent tester display.
c.

The number of registered codes is indicated.

d. Registration of the door control transmitter.
i.
ii.

If the add mode or rewrite mode has been selected, press LOCK and
UNLOCK on the transmitter simultaneously.
Press either of the switches on the door control transmitter again.
HINT:
Switches must be pressed for at least 1 second each time. The second
operation must be performed within 3 seconds after the first operation.

iii.

The body ECU automatically performs the power door LOCK-UNLOCK
operation after the switch on the door control transmitter is turned off, in
order to indicate whether registration has been completed correctly or not.


HINT:
If the LOCK-UNLOCK operation is performed twice, registration of the
recognition code has failed. Perform registration procedures from the
beginning once again.
iv.

If registration is continued, the next recognition code must be

registered in the door control transmitter within 40 seconds.
HINT:

If the wireless door lock control does not operate, perform the registration
procedure again.

1. REGISTER RECOGNITION CODES

Recognition code registration is necessary when the door control transmitter or
the door control receiver is replaced with a new one.
Add Mode is used to register new recognition codes while retaining the previously
registered codes. This mode is used when new transmitters are added. If the
number of registered codes exceeds 4, the previously registered codes will be
erased in order, starting from the first registered code.
Rewrite Mode is used to erase all the previously registered recognition codes in
order to register new recognition codes. This mode is used when the transmitter
or the door control receiver is replaced with a new one.
Confirmation Mode is used to confirm how many recognition codes have already
been registered before any additional recognition codes are registered.

Prohibition Mode is used to erase all the registered codes and disable the wireless
door lock function. This mode is used when the transmitters are lost.
The registration procedure described on the following pages must be performed in
order.

a. Check that the following conditions are met.
z No key is in the ignition key cylinder.
z Only driver side door is open.
b. Insert the key into the ignition key cylinder, and remove it twice within 5 seconds.
c. Perform the following operations within 40 seconds.
i. Close and open the driver side door twice.
ii. Insert the key into the ignition key cylinder, then remove it.
d. Perform the following operations within 40 seconds.
i. Close and open the driver side door twice.
ii. Insert the key into the ignition key cylinder and close all doors.
e. Perform the following operations within 40 seconds.
i. Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to ON and back to LOCK 1 to 5 times at
approximately 1 second intervals to select a mode (see the table below).

HINT:
If the number of ignition switch on(IG)-LOCK operations is 0, 4, 6 or more, there will
be no response (power DOOR LOCK and UNLOCK operation) to show which mode has
been selected.

ii. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder.
f. The main body ECU automatically performs power door LOCK-UNLOCK operations to indicate
which mode has been selected.

HINT:
z In Confirmation Mode, LOCK-UNLOCK operation will occur once for each
recognition code that has been registered. For example, if 2 recognition codes
have been registered, the LOCK-UNLOCK operation will occur twice.
z In Confirmation Mode, if no recognition codes have been registered, LOCKUNLOCK operation will occur 11 times.
z If Confirmation Mode or Prohibition Mode is selected, the operation ends after
the response to the selected mode is completed.
g. Register a new recognition code (Add Mode or Rewrite Mode) in accordance with the
following procedure.
i. Within 45 seconds of Add Mode or Rewrite Mode being selected, press the LOCK and
UNLOCK switches on the transmitter switch of the key simultaneously for 1.0 to 1.5
seconds. Within 3 seconds of moving your finger away from the switches, press either
switch of the key for more than 1.0 second.
ii. Within 5 seconds of the transmitter switch being released, the LOCK-UNLOCK operation
will be automatically performed once if the registration of the recognition code is correctly
completed. If the LOCK-UNLOCK operation is performed twice, the registration of the
recognition code has failed, so perform the registration procedure from the beginning
once again.

h. If multiple transmitters need to be registered, repeat the registration of a new recognition
code procedure within 45 seconds of the previous registration.
i. If any of the following conditions is met, the Registration Mode will end.
i. The key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder.
ii. Any doors are opened.
iii. 45 seconds or more elapse after code registration.
j. Registration of the recognition codes (Add Mode and Rewrite Mode) is completed.
