SoweawaitedourturninthegreathallandthenweheardtheCouncilof
Vocationscallourname:"Equality7-2521."Wewalkedtothedais,andourlegs
didnottremble,andwelookedupatthe{+Council.Therewerefivemembersof
the+}Council,threeofthemalegenderandtwoofthefemale.Theirhairwas
whiteandtheirfaceswerecrackedastheclayofadryriverbed.Theywereold.
TheyseemedolderthanthemarbleoftheTempleoftheWorldCouncil.Theysat
beforeusandtheydidnotmove.Andwesawnobreathtostirthefoldsoftheir

comebacktohaveourdinner,whichlastsonehour.Thenthebellringsandwe
walkinastraightcolumntooneoftheCityHalls,fortheSocialMeeting.Other
columnsofmenarrivefromtheHomesofthedifferentTrades.Thecandlesare
lit,andtheCouncilsofthedifferentHomesstandinapulpit,andtheyspeakto
usofourdutiesandofourbrothermen.ThenvisitingLeadersmountthepulpit
andtheyreadtousthespeecheswhichweremadeintheCityCouncilthatday,
fortheCityCouncilrepresentsallmenandallmenmustknow.Thenwesing
hymns,theHymnofBrotherhood,andtheHymnofEquality,andtheHymnof
theCollectiveSpirit.TheskyisasoggypurplewhenwereturntotheHome.
ThenthebellringsandwewalkinastraightcolumntotheCityTheatreforthree
hoursofSocialRecreation.Thereaplayisshownuponthestage,withtwogreat
chorusesfromtheHomeoftheActors,whichspeakandansweralltogether,in
twogreatvoices.Theplaysareabouttoilandhowgooditis.Thenwewalkback
