I. INTRODUCTION – GIỚI THIỆU
Reported speech – câu gián tiếp
• Câu gián tiếp là cách nói mà ta dùng để
tường thuật, hay kể lại cho ai đó nghe
những gì người khác nói hoặc đang
nói.
• Ví dụ:

+ Hanh said “I learn English”. ( Direct
speech)
=> Hanh said that she learned English.
( Reported speech)


II. THE WAYS OF CHANGING FROM DIRECT
SPEECH INTO REPORTED SPEECH.
1. Changing in tenses - Thay đổi về thì động từ.
2. Changing in modal verbs - Thay đổi về động
từ khuyết thiếu.
3. Changing in time - Thay đổi về từ chỉ thời
gian.

4. Changing in place and demonstrative - Thay
đổi về từ chỉ địa điểm, và đại từ chỉ định.
5. Changing in personal pronoun, and
possessive - Thay đổi về đại từ, tính từ sở hữu.

• The first person: I - my / we our
• Sẽ được đổi theo ngôi của chủ ngữ
trong mệnh đề tường thuật
• Ex: Jane said, “I have left my book at
home.”
• Jane said that She had left her book at
home.

• Sẽ được đổi theo tân ngữ (Object)
trong mệnh đề tường thuật.
• Ex: He said, “I’ll lend you my book,

• The third person: He- his -him / sheher/ they - them- their / it - it - its.
• Đại từ ngôi thứ thường được giữ
nguyên khi chuyển sang câu gián

tiếp.
• Ex: She said, “I have posted their letters.”
She said that she had posted their
letter.
