INTRODUCTION
In the context of international integration, Vietnam has entered a period of
innovation. The process of national urbanization and industrialization requires
development in all aspects, especially construction to meet demand, contributing to
making our country a modern industrialized country.
MYCOM Technology Joint Stock Company was established on December 22,
2009 in the form of Joint Stock Company. Over 10 years of construction and
development, MYCOM is known as a professional supplier of equipment solutions
and quality technical services, advanced technology for customers in the industry.
MYCOM always has a centralized and specialized approach to distribution and
maintenance of the service through the comprehensive progress of all activities to
provide value-added solutions for the community. Contribute to the cause of national
construction and development.
Being recommended and allowed by English Department – Thuongmai
University, I have gratefully experienced as an intern in Export – Import Department
of MYCOM. After one month (from 31/12/2019 to 25/01/2020), under the valuable
support and instruction of managers and colleges in MYCOM, I was able to apply the
knowledge obtained at university into practice, meanwhile collecting basic information
to complete the internship report.
I would like to express my gratitude towards teachers at English Department –
Thuongmai University as well as my managers and colleges in there. I look forward to
receiving comments and suggestions in order to perfect the paper.

1.2. Information about Export – Import Department
1.2.1 The role of Export – Import Department in MYCOM JSC
 This is a very important part, playing a key role in the Corporation. Ensure
input and output of the Corporation, access and market research, product introduction

and market expansion as well as attract new customers. Organize the implementation
of business plans, calculate prices and make contracts with customers.
 Provide information, translate documents, translate for management. Monitor
and supervise the implementation progress of departments and workshops to ensure
the production of products on time with contracts with customers and promptly
propose the most effective production plans.
 Prepare and distribute annual business and production plans for the
Corporation, quarterly and monthly for production workshops. Making production
orders for workshops, maintaining and improving the source of goods for the
Corporation. Proposing measures to improve marketing effectiveness in each time.

 Ensure input for companies on advanced construction machinery equipment
imported from countries around the world.
1.2.2 The task of Export – Import Department in MYCOM JSC
 Mission:
- Prepare and deploy plans to receive goods and goods to meet production
requirements and customer requirements.
- Implement and supervise the opening of the declaration to receive goods,
export goods on time.
- Prepare and implement reports to customs as required by customs law.
- Proposing to the immediate superior on each creative idea to improve and
improve the quality of the department's work.

2.1.2. Function, role of each position in Export – Import Department at
MYCOM JSC
 Export-Import trading staff: 2 people
- Managing contracts, orders and time of import or export.
- Contacting garage or seaport, airport in order to plan good’s shipment.
- Contacting with the bank to open Letter of Credit (L/C).
- Proposing new ideas which can improve the quality of department to
supervisor.
 Operation Staff: 1 people

Must be directly go to warehouse, airport and seaport in order to carry out

custom procedures and clearance.
- Check out goods before import or export in order to guarantee the quality and
quantity of goods.

- Putting goods into storage.
 Documentation staff: 2 people
- Composing collaboration letters.
- Drafting the contract and translating into English.
- Preparing Export-Import customs declaration.
- Completing the set of import documents, transportation documents and
procedures for receipt goods.
- Replying emails.

During my internship time at MYCOM, I took the position of Documentation
staff. This is a great opportunity for me to learn the knowledge, experiences and skills
needed of a Export – Import staff as well as to familiarize myself with the working
environment, work culture and to build good relationships with colleagues. In
particular, I was responsible for the following tasks:
• Composing collaboration letters
It is the fact that English is gaining its popularity in the world nowadays, so all
collaboration letters were composed in English. Being a student from Faculty of
English Teacher Education, that I used English in work was not considered to be
challenging. When I received the list of vendors from my supervisor, I started
composing letter. For the sake of saving time, I only wrote several letters for all
vendors. However, what was difficult here was that how to write an email that could
make the receivers agree to be the partner of the company. In fact, it took me a long
time to think of a title and the content of the letter. Psychologically speaking, in the
ever-changing world today, people always have to work under pressure, so if they
suddenly get an email which the content is not related to their work, they will never
take a look at it. Learning this matter, it is essential for me to seriously consider the
content of the letter. In the beginning when I was not indeed similar to the job, I was
asked to rewrite the email all the time. Yet, by carefully observing the experienced

colleagues working and referencing a series of procedures, I could make a good email,
which truly satisfied my supervisor.
• Drafting the contract and translating into English
MYCOM is a corporation with strength in technology field. Through many years
of formation and development, MYCOM is now leading the country in technology
field. In addition to these successes, it is impossible not to mention the effective
support from a series of modern technology machines serving the works imported
from advanced countries in the world.
And on imported shipments, the import and export department will be
responsible for handling. As a document officer, I was assigned by the supervisor to
compose a contract based on a given template and translate it into English, because the
company's partners are foreign partners. Being a major student in business English, I
am at least able to learn a lot of economic vocabularies, so I can apply it somewhat to

my assigned work. However, this is the first time I have composed and translated the
contract into English, so I still have some difficulties sometimes.
• Replying emails
Normally, my supervisors received a quantity of emails from partners, which she
could not handle at the same time in a short period. Therefore, by instructing and
training me, I could help her reply emails quickly. Honestly, no sooner had I done this
work than I could nurture carefulness by myself, which is extremely conducive to my
future career.
2.2. The difficulties and experiences in internship process in Export –
Import Department of MYCOM JSC:
2.2.1. The Difficulties
During my internship process here, I faced up with some following difficulties:
- Firstly, because all things I did directly affected the efficiency and progress of
work, so most of the time I was under pressure. My supervisor assigned me tasks and

instructed me, but sometimes I found it somehow difficult to understand, leading to the
ineffectiveness of the job.
- Secondly, when I was a student at Thuongmai University, I learned the basics
of translation and interpretation but lacked practical knowledge, I had many
difficulties in translating contracts and reading letters and email partners for me. There
is not much knowledge about this field.
- Thirdly, working in a professional environment that requires high flexibility
and sensitivity, I have had to put in a lot of effort to observe and learn my colleagues'
knowledge and skills every day. Due to the lack of specific knowledge, I have
difficulty with some terms and terms used in this area.
- Fourthly, when I started my internship, it was quite difficult for me to put my
English knowledge into practice. I have to deal with many Import and Export
documents every day. However, the vocabulary I accumulated and learnt at the
university is not enough. This specialized vocabulary is very much. Therefore, it
caused some difficulties for me in translating documents.
- Lastly, I went to university for more than 3 years, however, I did not have the
opportunity to use office machines such as printers, photocopier, so I had to ask others

to help me use these machines. Besides, my computer skills are not really good, so
there are some obstacles. Fortunately, my colleagues help and guide me with a wholehearted attitude so I can learn faster.
2.2.2.

The Experiences

During a month of internship in the Import and Export department at MYCOM, I
learned a lot of experiences and skills for myself:
- Knowing how to draft cooperation letters and how to write contracts with
partners.

- Knowing, learning more knowledge related to the field of import and export
and basic knowledge of technology.
- Applying knowledge and skills learned at university (writing letters, emails,
contract translation, translators, translators) at work.
- Learning how to write and respond to letters and emails professionally.
- My office computer skills and English skills improved a lot.
- Getting familiar with the modern, professional environment of the company as
well as the office culture at work. What I have not had many opportunities to
experience.
- Learning how to get along with other colleagues in the company and build
good relationships with partners.

PART 3: THES REALITY OF THE USE OF ENGLISH IN MYCOM
CORPORATION JSC
3.1. The use of English in MYCOM Corporation JSC
3.1.1. The Advantages
- Over 10 years of establishment and development, MYCOM has been promoting
the development in its technology field. As a large corporation, the company often
cooperates with foreign partners MYCOM has strongly invested in a lot of modern
machineries for technology from foreign countries. And with such development and
expansion, there is a need for high quality human resources. They need candidates
who not only have specialized knowledge but also fluent foreign languages. The
corporation must work with partners from many countries that use different languages,
so a good English staff is needed. Therefore, English is the main foreign language used
primarily in MYCOM. English has become an essential part of the company and is the
key to opening up opportunities to exploit and develop new markets.
- Operating mainly in technological fields (electronics and telecommunications,

etc..), implementing large projects at home and abroad, this means having to import a
lot of equipment types, modern machinery for the project. E-ID is one of the daily
English-speaking departments. Most of the staff here have good English skills, speak
English clearly and fluently, skill in writing letters, contracts are also proficient.
- E-ID staff regularly prepare contracts and have to translate into English, write
letters and email to foreign partners. Therefore, the level is increasingly improved and
become proficient.
- Because the company's customers are both domestic and foreign, the
company's official website is designed and displayed in English and Vietnamese, this
not only helps Vietnamese people but also foreigners easily access and find out
information about company activities. In addition, website design is also systemized
and completely in English and Vietnamese.
3.1.2. The Disadvantages
Most employees are only able to read and understand English but are not really
good at communication, so sometimes it creates some barriers to dealing with
foreigners. Because the work is often exposed, the use is just drafting, writing and
reading letters and contracts. In fact, in the company's seminars, there are the

participation of foreign advisors and partners, requiring good employees to serve for
translation. However, this number is still limited. Many employees of other
departments attended seminars and meetings with foreign partners, they themselves
had problems in listening and communication. The staff has some difficulties in
English listening skills with partners from Japan, France, Italy, ... It is difficult for
them to make some work exchanges. These difficulties make the company partly
reduce image and reputation in the eyes of partners.
3.2. Some solutions to improve the use of English in the working
environment at MYCOM JSC
Recognizing the importance of English for their business, the corporation

implements a number of policies aiming to raise the level of English used in the
corporation:
• The corporation enhances recruitment criteria in the enterprise: being able to
communicate fluently in English.
• The board has made plans in training language for all employees in the
corporation by building plans to link with some English center to design English
courses to improve English skills for employees. The courses focus on the skills of
communication, negotiation, writing email, drafting contract in English. This will
improve work efficiency.
• The corporation has the rewarding policy such as extra bonus for individuals
with good performance, increase the wages for employees who have the good
qualifications and English ability in the workplace. This policy will create motivation
and encourage employees to work and improve their English.
• The corporation also makes conditions for employees participating in English
experience sharing workshop organized by the units in the country and abroad to help
them learn more experiences and skills in working with foreign partners.

PART 4: SUGGESTION FOR THE SUBJECT OF GRADUATION THESIS
Today, English has become an important part of every business. It is the key to
open the door to discover, exploit new markets and seek investors and cooperate with
foreign partners to serve businesses. As a corporation specializing in technical & high
technology field, often working with foreign investors, technical experts from
advanced countries and investment in importing the modern machinery from abroad.
Therefore, working with partners from many countries using different languages
regularly. Managers and staff of some departments in the Corporation can use English
to communicate but only in non-professional English. Most English employees are still
weak due to the lack of a wide range of general English and specialized English

vocabularies. Some officials and senior employees in the Corporation English is still
not good, which is a barrier to deal with foreign guests.
Therefore, after a month of practice at the Import and Export Department at the
corporation, I realized that learning English to communicate is extremely important for
the staff of MYCOM in general and the students of Thuongmai University in
particular. And to communicate effectively, it is necessary to accumulate a good
vocabulary, especially the correct pronunciation. Therefore, I have a desire to propose
a research topic for graduation thesis as the following topic: "Studying on common
pronunciation mistakes faced by English Faculty's Students at Thuongmai University”.
I sincerely hope my teachers review and help me in the process of making the
thesis.

CONCLUSION
Over more than 10 years of operation and development, MYCOM has achieved
achievements in the high- technology sector, making it one of the successful
corporations, leading in the construction sector with revenue of trillions VND. Thanks
to leading the high quality service, the Corporation can compete with strong domestic
and international rivals.
During one month of internship at the E-ID Department of the Corporation, I had
the opportunity to apply the knowledge learned at school and learn more about the
environment, working methods and business environment. These valuable experiences
will help me with a clear orientation to my future career.
With the background knowledge and practical experience gained in a month of
internship at MYCOM, I wrote this report to show some of the drawbacks in the
English use of employees in MYCOM. I hope that these suggestions will contribute to
the development of the Corporation in the future.

Director and the staff in the company who helped me to complete this report.
