A: When Snowy sleeps, he snores but he looks sweet.
Grammar: Relative Pronouns (who, which, that)
1. who
E.g: The person who is talking to Mai is Quang.
- Thay thế cho một danh từ chỉ người ở vị trí chủ ngữ.
- Nhận biết:
+ Trước “who” là một danh từ chỉ người

+ Sau “who” là một động từ
2. which
E.g: The car which I bought last year is very slow now.
- Thay thế cho một danh từ chỉ vật ở vị trí chủ ngữ hoặc tân ngữ.
- Nhận biết: trước “which” là một danh từ chỉ vật
3. that
E.g: The person that is talking to Mai is Quang.

The car that I bought last year is very slow now.
=> Thay thế được cho “who, which”
- Không dùng “that”:
+ Ngay phía trước có giới từ
+ Ngay phía trước có dấu phẩy
4. whom
E.g: The man whom we talk about yesterday is standing there.
- Thay thế cho một danh từ chỉ người ở vị trí tân ngữ
- Nhận biết:
+ Trước “whom” là một danh từ chỉ người
+ Sau “whom” là một mệnh đề
Example:
1. The city has many beautiful beaches. I live in this city.
=> The city which I live in has many beautiful beaches.
=> The city in which I live has many beautiful beaches.
2. The man whom we talk about yesterday is standing there.
=> The man about whom we talk yesterday is standing there.
Relative pronouns with propositions:
Prepositions (in, on, at, for, from, upon, with, about, to,...) + WHOM / WHICH

Exercise 1. Choose the suitable italicised words to complete the following sentences.
1. To who/whom it may concern.
2. It was a service for which/that I was grateful.
3. The success of a shared holiday depends on who/whom you share it with.
