<b>1. Cách dùng used to (The use of used to)</b>

Chúng ta sử dụng used to (đã từng) khi nói về thói quen trong q khứ nhưng nay khơng
cịn nữa.

Ex: When I was a child, I used to go to Suoi Tien.
(Khi cịn nhỏ, tơi đã từng đi Suối Tiên.)

<b>2. Cách thành lập Used to</b>

<i><b>- Thể khẳng định (Affirmative form): S + USED TO + V (BARE INF)</b></i>
Ex: I used to live in Hue. Tôi đã từng sống ở Huế.

(nhưng giờ khơng cịn ở đó nữa)

<i><b>- Thể phủ định (Negative form): S + DIDN’T + USE TO + V (BARE INF)</b></i>
Ex: My father didn’t use to smoke cigarette.

Bố tôi trước đây không hút thuốc (nhưng bây giờ bắt đầu hút thuốc).

<i><b>- Thể nghi vấn (Interrogative form): DID + S + USE TO + V (BARE INF)?</b></i>
Ex: Did you use to work in the post office?

(Có phải trước đây anh đã từng làm việc ở bưu điện không?)
<b>3. Kiến thức nâng cao:</b>

<b>TOBE USED TO + VING+O = GET USED TO + VING+O</b>

<b>dùng để diễn tả việc quen dần với hành động hoặc sự việc nào đó hoặc chỉ thói quen, </b>
<b>việc thường xảy ra ở hiện tại.</b>

<b>Ex: He is used to getting up early.( anh ấy quen dần với việc dạy sớm)</b>

<b>I get used to listening to music every evening. ( Tôi quen với việc nghe nhạc mỗi tối)</b>
<b> </b>

<b> II. CONJUNCTIONS( TỪ NỐI)</b>

<b>2. SO ( nên, cho nên): là liên từ thường đứng ở giữa câu, nối mệnh đề chỉ nguyên nhân và </b>
mệnh đề chỉ kết quả.

<i><b>Ex: The food was cold, so he was angry.</b></i>

<b>3. BUT ( Nhưng) dùng nối hai mệnh đề mang nghĩa đối lập nhau và thường đứng ở đầu </b>
mệnh đề thứ hai.

Ex: He is small but he is very strong.
<b>4. OR ( hoặc) : diễn tả sự lựa chọn</b>
Ex: You can sing or dance.

<b>5. HOWEVER ( tuy nhiên):là một trạng từ, nó có thể đứng ở các vị trí khác nhau trong </b>

<i><b>câu. Trước however, ta dùng dấu chấm câu (.), dấu phấy (,) hoặc dấu chấm phẩy (;).</b></i>
Ex: They want to eat icecream , however, they don't have any money

<b>6. ATHOUGH/ THOUGH: ( mặc dù) dùng để chỉ sự nhượng bộ kết nối hai mệnh đề.</b>
Ex: Although it rained heavily, he went to school on time.

<b>7. BECAUSE ( bởi vì) dùng chỉ nguyên nhâ kết nối hai mệnh đề.</b>
Ex: She stayed at home because she was ill.
