answer to each of the questions.

In the last 100 years, technology has completely changed the way we live. At the touch of a button, we can

look up almost anything we need to know on the Internet. We have electricity, aeroplanes, television, and we
have ever been to the moon. So what sort of inventions will there be in the 21st century? Indeed, is there
anything important still left to invent?

It seems that there is, scientists all over the world are looking into nanotechnology with a great deal of
interest. This is the science of building small machines – and when we say small, we mean very small. To give
you an idea of the size scientists are talking about, these machines would be about a million billion times
smaller than the smallest bit of dust.

Nanotechnology will bring about enormous changes. Doctors, for example, will be able to cure any illness.
The environment will be improved because it will be possible to take the polluted air we breathe and make it
clean again. But perhaps the most exciting thought of all is that we won’t have to wait a thousand years for
nanotechnology – many people believe there is a good chance it will come in our lifetime.

Question 9: Has technology completely changed the way we live in the last 100 years?

A. Yes, it has. B. No, it isn’t. C. No, it hasn’t. D. Yes, it is.
Question 10: Where can we look up almost anything we need to know?

A. In the dictionary. B. In the electronic book. C. On the internet. D. In the library.
Question 11: Who are looking into Nanotechnology with a great deal of interest?

A. Engineers. B. Workers. C. Scientists. D. Doctors.
Question 12: Which of the following is not true?

A. Nanotechnology will bring about some changes in the medical field.

B. Many people believe that they have to wait a thousand years for nanotechnology.
C. The size of the machines will be much smaller than the smallest bit of dust.
D. Scientists have a lot of interest in nanotechnology.

Read the following passage and write the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct
answer to each of the questions.

Question 13: Has technology completely changed the way we live in the last 100 years?

A. No, it isn’t. B. Yes, it is. C. Yes, it has. D. No, it hasn’t.

TAPESCRIPT LISTENING 2

Alaska is perhaps the most amazing state in the USA. It has coastlines facing both the

Arctic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. This state has an incredible three million lakes. That’s four

lakes per person living there.

Many cities in Alaska cannot be reached by road, sea, or river. The only way to get in and

out is by air, on foot, or by dogsled. That’s why Alaska has the busiest sea airport in the world,

Lake Hood Seaplane Base. Nearly two hundred float planes take off and land on the water of this

airport every day. It is a really fun scene to watch.
