<b>Lesson 1 : Part 1-2-3</b>
<b>I. AIMS: </b>


<b>1. Knowledge: </b>


<b>- By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to recognize and pronounce the letter Nn </b>
<b>and its sound correctly. Understand, recognize and say the three Nn words and write </b>
<b>the letter Nn.</b>


* Handicapped Ss: will be able to listen and repeat sound and vocab with teacher’s
help.


- Vocabulary: nut, net, nest
- Sight words: look….


<b>2. Skills: speaking, listening and reading</b>


<b>3. Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson. Work hard</b>
<b>II. TEACHING AIDS:</b>


<i>1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, phonics cards, computer,cassette.CNTT</i>
<i>2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.</i>


<b>III. TEACHING METHODS:</b>


- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work.
- Some techniques can be used: music chairs.

<b>2. Warm up : (5’)</b>


- Review the letters A-M


- Write the letters A to M on the board leaving out a couple of them. And then Ss
copy and complete the letters in their notebooks.

- T Use a card with letter Nn or write on board
the letter Nn to introduce to the students the new
lesson.


- Ask students how to pronounce the letter name
and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter
N //. The letter N says //.”


- Ss listen and repeat.


- T ask Ss repeat several times and check


students’ pronunciation letter N // and its sound

- Ss work in group.
- Ss work individually.



- Ss look the cards and repeat .


- T use gestures (hand actions ) to help students
to understand the meanings of the three words.
- Ss check the meaning and repeat.

correct their mistakes.

- Ask the students to open their books and colour

<b>*Sit and Stand Game ( 4’)</b>


- T Show the 3 phonics cards one by one. For
<i><b>example, show the card with nut, but incorrectly </b></i>
<i><b>say net or nest, the students will stand; if the </b></i>
words are correctly said, they will stay sitting.
- T Do the same procedure for the other two
cards.


- Give feedback

<b>* Activity 2:</b>


<b>2. Listen and point. Colour. Read the words </b>
<b>with “Look!” (5 mins)</b>


- T asks students look at the book and listen to

- Have students listen and repeat the words for
several times


- T put up the phonics cards on the board.
- T point to the orange card and say: This is an
orange.

<b>*Touching Game (5 mins)</b>


- Put the 3 phonics cards on the board in this
<i><b>order: nut, net, nest.</b></i>


- Divide the class into 2 teams; call one student
of each team to stand 1m from the board


<i><b>- Read one of the three words out loud (e.g. a </b></i>
<i><b>nut), students must run to tap the card of that </b></i>
word.


- Student who taps the correct card first will get 1
point for his/her team.


- Call 4-6 students per team to the board if
possible


- Give feedback

<b>3. Chant and show! (8 mins)</b>


- T put up the lyris of the chant on the board.


- Without music, use the phonics card and step
<i>Ss to sing the chant with Olive. Do the same with</i>
<i>nand nest. </i>


- Ss listen and chant.


- With music, the whole class sing the whole
chant. Do the chant again using gestures for eacg
word.


- T give feedback.


- T ask Ss to write the chant in to note book.
- Ss write the chant in their notebook.
* Handicapped Ss: read with teacher’s help.

and the coresponding words.


- Learn and practise reading skills and sing a song.


* Handicapped Ss: will be able to listen and repeat vocab and structure about with
teacher’s help.

correctly will come to the front of the class and
activity continues.

- T encourage the students to point to the picture of
the word that the teacher says.


- T play the CD and ask Ss to listen to the story
once.


- T play the CD again.


- Ss listen and point to the pictures of the key words
when they hear them in the story.


- T read the storyand ask Ss follow their books.
- Teacher reads the printed words then let the
students look at the pictures and say the words.
- Ss look at the pictures and say the words.


- T ask students work in pairs. One reads while the
other checks, then they change roles. Or one reads
the printed words while the other looks at the
pictures and says the words.


- Ss to work in pairs.


* Handicapped Ss: read with teacher’s help.
<b>* Say the Sight Words (3 mins)</b>


- T Point to and say the sight words: look, a, in, and
- students repeat


- T call some students read them aloud.



<b>*Activity: Chinese Whispers Game (5 mins)</b>
- Divide the class into 2 or 4 teams with the same
numbers of students in each team.


- The first student of each team runs to the teacher
(at the same time); teacher whispers a word/words to
them.


- The first student whispers the word/words to the
student sitting next to or behind him/her and so on.
- The last students say the word/words aloud.

- T Put the nut, net and nest phonics cards up on the

<b>*Activity: Which One Is Missing? (5 mins)</b>


- Put the phonics cards face up on the table/stick
them on the board.


- Give the students a minute to look at the cards.
- Have students close their eyes and then you take
away one cards.


- Tell the students to open their eyes and name the
missing cards.
