1. Aim:

Helping students know that English is the most important and international language in the
world.

2. Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- know more the information about the British leisure activities in their free time.
- improve better their reading skill trhough passage comprehension.

- guess meaning in context by multiple choice.

- know how to scan for specific ideas and skim for general ideas.
3. Materials:

Textbook, posters, pictures, handouts ……..
4. Anticipated problems:

Students may not know more the information about the British leisure activities.
5. Procedure:

Warm up:
 Network

- Ask students to think about the leisure activities which they often do
in their free time.

- Have some students go to the board and write down the leisure
activities.

- Give feedback.

- Ask students to give Vietnamese meanings.
Or: Bingo

- Use the given leisure activities in textbooks.

- Ask students to choose 5 activities which they think the British people
often do in their free time and write them down in their papers.

- Prepare a list of the British leisure activities and call out each
activity in a loud voice.

- Ask students listen to the teacher carefully. If anyone has the same
activity, they cross it out. And the first student crossing out all 5
activities shout “BINGO” and win the game.

In today’s lesson, you are going to read something about
recreation in Britain. In the first place, I’d like to help you with some
new words.

Activity 1: Having a quick check

Instructions: Now, let’s get back to your guess about the British
people’s recreation. Open your books to page 155 – 156 , let’s read
the passage in 5 minutes and check them.

- Go around the class to offer help.
- Ask some students to give their answers.
- Give feedback.

Activity 2: Multiple choice test
* TASK 1 (p.156)

Instructions: Now, let’s move to Task 1. The words and phraes in 
italics in the following sentences all appear in the passage. Circle the
correct answer.

- Ask students to do the Task 1 in pairs, read the passage again and
do the multiple choice test.

- Go around the class to offer help and encourage students to read.
- Ask some pairs to give the answers.

- Give feedback and correct the mistakes if necessary.
Activity 3: Gap – fill

Complete the following sentences with the missing information:

Discuss the questions “Which of the British leisure activities 
mentioned in the passage are also popular in Vietnam? Which are

not?”:

- Ask students to do the Task in groups.
- Go around the class to offer help.
