II. Grammar:

1. Conditional sentences - type 1 (Câu điều kiện - Loại 1)

- Loại câu điều kiện này diễn tả điều kiện có thể hoặc khơng thể thực hiện
trong tương lai.

Cấu trúc của cảu điểu kiện loai 1:
If - clause (Mệnh đề if)

Main clause (Mệnh đề chính)
If + s + V (simple present)

s + will/ won’t + V (bare infinitive)
Thì hiện tại được dùng trong mệnh đề if.
Thì tương lai được dùng trong mộnh đề chính.

- Những động từ khiếm khuyết khác có thể dùng trong mệnh đề chính (may/
might/ can...).

If you want to pass the exam, you must study harder.
Nếu bạn muốn thi dỗ, bạn phải học hành chăm chỉ hơn.
If the weather is warm, we may/ might go to the park.

Nếu thời tiết ấm áp, chúng ta có thể đi công viên. If the weather is warm, you
can go to the park.

Nếu thời tiết ẩm áp, bạn có thể đi cơng viên.

Lưu ý: Thì hiện tại đơn có thể được dùng ở mệnh đề chính để diễn tả một điều
kiện luôn luôn đúng.

2. Conditional sentences - Type 2 (Câu điều kiện - Loại 2)

- Câu điều kiện loại 2 diễn tả điều kiện khơng có thật thường được dùng để
nói lên sự tưởng tượng của người nói (điều kiện khơng thể xảy ra ở hiện tại
hoặc ở tương lai).

Cấu trúc:

If clause (Mệnh đề chính), Main clause (Mệnh đề phụ)
S + past subjunctive, S + could + bare infinitive

S + would/ could/ might + verb

- “could” có thể dùng ở mệnh đề chính, mệnh đề if hoặc cả hai.
Ex: If I were you, I would buy that bicycle.

Nếu tơi là bạn, tơi sẽ mua chiếc xe đạp đó.

If I became rich, I would spend all my time travelling.
Nếu tôi giàu, tôi sẽ dành tất cả thời gian để đi du lịch.

If my dog could talk, he would/ could tell me what he wants.

Nếu con chó của tơi có thể nói chuyện, nó sẽ nói cho tơi biết nó muốn những
gì.

Lưu ý: Trong mệnh đề khơng có thật ở hiện tại, chúng ta có thể dùng were 
thay cho was trong tất cả các ngôi trong mệnh đề if.

flora found there. Tour guides and travel brochures educate tourists about the
protection of the environment. Tourists enjoy the beauty of wildlife without
harming it. They stay with local families instead of hotels and get to know

Pablo, a farmer from Costa Rica: Costa Rica is one of the worlds best
ecotourism destinations. We have beautiful beaches, thick rain forests,
exciting volcanoes, and exotic wildlife. The local government and tour guides
tell us that ecotourism is good for us, but the fact is, I don’t really know what
it is. But I do know that when tourists come here, there are more jobs for us,

In Ha Long Bay, for example, tourists just visit the bay and some caves,
without learning about the environment or taking part in any local cultural
activities.

In addition, in some national parks, tourists are not fully aware of

environmental protection. If they throw rubbish or break tree branches, they
are not fined. As a result, some tourist areas have suffered from some

environmental damage. What's more, most tour guides have poor knowledge
of the ethnic culture. Therefore, ecotourists have little or no understanding of
Viet Nam's cultural diversity.

2. Many African countries, with their numerous national parks and safaris,
have benefited from ecotourism. However, ecotourism activities have had
some negative impacts on the environment and people there.

One of the worst impacts is the massive loss of land. Parks and game
reserves require vast land, and the local people's best pasture lands have
been taken away.

In Kenya, the tourism industry has employed better educated people from
other countries. As a result, ecotourism has not provided more jobs for the
local people.

In Tanzania, hunting in some game reserves is allowed. Camping requires
firewood for cooking and heating. These activities have caused danger and
harm to the environment.
