ALBERT PARK

Albert Park is located only three kilometres from the Melbourne city centre. It is a 225 
hectare sporting and recreational park.

The park is a beautiful, relaxing, and fun place to spend the day. You can enjoy a pinic 
or barbecue at one of the nine picnic areas. There is also a large lake which is home to 
a gorgeous family of swans and is a lovely place to take a walk. If you are more 
adventurous, you can take some lessons at the yacht and rowing club or hire a boat 
just for fun and go for a paddle.

Albert Park is host to some of Melbourne’s most exciting events. In May, the ‘Million 
Paws Walk’ sees many dogs play and run through the park with their owners to raise 
money for charity. Throughout the year there are various ‘Fun Runs’, and in March the

‘Foster’s Australian Grand Prix Carnival’ is held here.

Cheese rolling is one of the simplest sports. They roll a big round piece of cheese from
the top of a hill and competitors chase after it. The first person to cross the finish line
at the bottom of the hill wins (the cheese of course). Very few people can catch the
rolling cheese because it can travel up to 112 km an hour.

B. Putting your toes together.

Toe wrestling is a popular sport for children. Two children lock their toes together and
try to force the other’s foot to the ground. There is even the World Toe Wrestling
