GETTING STARTED + LISTEN AND READ
I. OBJECTIVES

1. Knowledge, Skills, Attitude:

a. Knowledge: - By the end of the lesson, Ss know more about activities and life in the countryside.

- Grammar: - Present progressive tense.
- Past simple tense.

- Vocabulary: Related to the countryside.

b. Skills: Listening, speaking, reading and writing.

c. Attitude: - Ss will be educated about keeping the countryside clean and beautiful.

2. Capacity is formed and developed for students

- Self-learning capability.
- Communicative competence
- Cooperation capacity

II. Preparation

1. Teacher: - Lesson plane, book, color chalks, pictures, MP3

2. Students: - Books, notebooks, pen, ruler …
III. Students’ activities

1. Warm up (5’)

Teacher’s and Ss’ activities Content

- T asks, Ss answer the questions.

- T corrects and gives marks if necessary.

a. How is life in the countryside? Noisy or
quiet?

b. What activities do people often do in the
countryside?

Now we take a trip to the countryside.

2. Knowledge formation activities (32’)

- T introduces the topic.

- T reads the requirement and explains.
-Ss listen to teacher’s explanation.

- T hangs the pictures and gives example with picture

1. Getting started

* Ss talk about the activities in the countryside.

Work with a partner. Look at the pictures and 
take turns to talk about activities in the

countryside.

Ex : Picture 6

What is a man doing?

A man is plowing with his buffalo.
Activities :

watering the vegetables
swimming

feeding the chickens

harvesting (the farmers are harvesting)

feeding the pigs

plowing in the field

A buffalo boy is flying his kite.
Some children are playing football.
Questions :

- Have you ever seen or done these activities?
- Which activity do you like best?

- Do you think the countryside is a wonderful
place for someone to take a trip?

- Have you ever taken a trip to the countryside?
- If yes, How did you get there? (by bus, by
motorbike, by motorboat ? )

- T gives Ss some questions before listening.
- T plays the tape once.

- Ss listen to the tape and try to find the answers.
- T calls Ss to answer the questions.

III. Speaking

* Ss ask and answer the questions about the 
countryside.

a. Work with a partner. Read the questions. 
Then play the role of A and B, and ask and 
answer about your partner’s home village 
using the information from the boxes.
A: Where is your home village ?

B: It’s to the west of the city.

Do you want to know about your friend’s real
home village?

b. Now ask and answer about your real home 
village. If you do not have a home village,

make up information similar to those in box 
A or B.

Suggested words :
- by motorboat, canoe

- raise domestic birds, shrimp, crab, fish
Do you want to visit your friend’s home
