Objectives By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - master some vocabulary about Tet holiday - get more knowledge about Tet holiday, the tradition, main activities 2. Teaching aids: - Blackboard, chalk, handouts - Textbook, lesson plan................... B. Procedure: Time Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1 min - The monitor reports the I. New lesson: 1- Warm- up: - T asks Ss the following questions: Questions : 1. Do you like Tet? 2. What time of the year does Tet holiday take place? 3. What do you like most when Tet holiday comes? 4. What will you do to prepare for Tet holiday? 5. What do you think the main activities are?.... - T leads Ss to the new lesson. 2- Before you read: Discussing Tet holiday - T asks the whole class to look at the picture on page 90 and discuss the three questions in pairs. - T goes around to offer help. - T calls on some Ss to present their answers and elicits comments from other Ss. T gives feedback if necessary. - Now Ss work in pairs to tell which of the activities in the book they enjoy doing most at Tet. Ss may also list out other activities they like doing at Tet. T reminds Ss to give reasons for their answers. For example, to guess the meaning of grand (line 1, first paragraph) they pay attention to pagoda, happy year.. - listen - T checks that Ss understand the words correctly. T can check Ss’ understanding by asking them to provide the Vietnamese equivalents to the words. If Ss find it difficult to guess the meaning of any word, T should elicit and give suggestions.  Task 2: - T instructs Ss to use some strategies to do the task: - listen to the T + first, quickly read through the statements to get an idea about the topic. + read the first statemnet more carefully. Underline the key words to understand the main point. + search for the section of the text which deals with the idea or fact. - work individually - T asks Ss to work individually to do the task and discuss their answers with their peers. - give the answers - T calls on some Ss to give their answers and asks them to explain their choices. If Ss cannot, T gets them to read the question carefully and gives hem some tips to do the task. - T asks Ss to work individually to do the task, then - work individually and discuss their answers with their peers. discuss Lop11.com.
