<b>OLD LESSON:</b>
- ask some questions about Mr.Lam activities, a
cyclo driver.

- Asks Ss some questions.

- T introduces the situation. Now we study a
frightening story

verbs that used in the past simple and the
connectors (time expressions) in the story.

- Listen and guess the meaning of words.

- Ask students to do <b>task 2</b>
- Explain to Ss the format of a narrative: <i>the </i>
<i>events, the climax. and the conclusion </i>

<i>- Tell </i>Ss to work in groups and identify the
events, climax, and the conclusion of the story.
- Goes around and helps.
- Ask them to report the results to class.
- Checks (corrects)
<b>AFTER - WRITING:</b>
<b>Task 3</b>
- Ask students to keep book open
- Ask them to use the prompts to build up a
narrative about a hotel fire
- Let students work individually
- Walk round and help students
- Do task 2 in groups

<b>The events: </b><i>Got on plane, plane took off, </i>
<i>hostesses were just beginning to serve lunch </i>
<i>when plane began to shake, plane seemed to </i>
<i>dip, people screamed in panic.</i>
<b>The climax: </b><i>We thought we had only minutes </i>
<i>to live. </i>
<b>The conclusion: </b><i>Pilot announced that </i>
<i>everything was all right. We landed safely.</i>
<b>Task 3</b>
- Practice in group, write in a sheet of paper
- Change the sheet of paper to each other to
correct.
<b>- Suggested answer: </b>
<b> Last year, I </b><i>spent my summer holidays</i>
<i>at a seaside town. The hotel was modern</i>
<i>and comfortable. I had a wonderful</i>
<i>holiday until the fire. It was Saturday</i>
<i>evening and everybody was sitting in the</i>
<i>discotheque (which was) on the ground</i>
<i>floor. I was crowded with people. They</i>
<i>were dancing and singing happily.</i>
<i>Suddenly we smelt smoke. Then smoke</i>
<i>began to fill in the room . Everybody</i>
<i>started to scream in panic. People ran</i>
<i>toward the fire exits. One door was</i>
<i>blocked.Many</i> <i>people</i> <i>began</i>
<i>coughing and choking. Then, just</i>
<i>as we thought we had only minutes to</i>
<i>live, The fire brigade arrived. Firemen</i>
<i>fought their way into the room and soon</i>
<i>everyone was safely out of building.</i>
<i>the most frightening experience of my</i>
<i>life. </i>
- Gets class to continue their writing
