PHRASAL VERBS
I . BE
1. be against = be opposed to
2. be away = be away from home / place for at least a night
3. be back = have return after a long or short absence 4. be for = be in favour of + V-ing
5. be in for = be about to encounter 6. be over = be finished
7. be out = be away from home / from this building for a short time - not overnight
8. be up = be out of bed
9. be up to = be physically or intellectually strong enough
10. it is up to S.O = it is his responsibility or duty.
II . BREAK
1. break down = collapse , cease to function properly , owing to some fault or weakness
2. break in = enter by force 3. break off = terminate
4. break out = begin / escape by using force from a prison
5. Break up = terminate ( used of school term , meeting , party ...)
III . CALL
1. call for = visit a place to collect a person or thing
2. call off = summon someone to leave his house to deal with situation outside.
3. call up = summon for military service , telephone.
IV. COME
1. come across = find by chance 2. come along / on = come with me , accompany me.
3. come away= detach itself / leave 4. come in / into = enter
5. come off = succeed ( of a plan or scheme) ( negative)
come off =take place , happen as arranged
6. come out = be revealed / exposed , be published , disappear
7. come round = finaaly accept a previously opposed suggestion , come to one's house
8.Come up = rise to the surface / be mentioned
Come up to = approach , come close enough to talk.
V. GET
1. get about = circulate , move or travel in a general sense
2, get away = escape , be free to leave
3. get back= recover possession of / reach home again
4. get on / get on with = make progress , be successful / live , work amicably with someone
5. get out = escape from , leave .
6. get out of = free oneself from an obligation or habit
7. get over = recover from illness , distress or mental weakness
8.Get it over = deal with it and be finished with it .
9. get round a person = coax him into letting you do what you want
Get round a difficulty / regulation = find some solution to it
10. get through = finish a piece of work , finish successfully
get through = get into telephone communication
11. get up = organize , arrange / rise from bed
VI. GIVE

3. give in = yield , cease to resist
4. give out = announce verbally / distribute , issue
5. give up = abondon
