<b>IV. Read the passage, then answer the questions below it: (3 marks)</b>


London, the capital of Great Britain, is situated on the Thames River. It is the largesr city in
Europe with a population of over 8 million. It is divided into four parts: the city, Westminster,
the West End and the East End.


The city is small in area but it is the commercial heart of Lomdon. Many banks and offices
are situated there. The Tower and St. Paul's Cathedral is very large and fine. It was built in
1710. The famous English architect Christopher Wren planed and built St.Paul’s Cathedral. If
the city may be called the commercial heart of London, Westminster is the center of the
administration. We can see the Houses of Parliament there. It is a beautiful building with two
towers and a very big clock called Big Ben. Westminster Abbey is opposite the Houses of
Parliament.


The West End with the best and most expensive clubs, restaurants and theatres, beautiful
houses and parks is the place where rich people live. Working people live in the East End where
there are no parks or gardens and no fine houses.
