1. Introduction.
Information Technology (IT) has been developing very strongly for

many years , dominating most of the fields of scientific research, education,
politics - society. In Education and Training, Information technology is used in
almost all subject formats, bringing with it remarkable results. Thus, Information
Technology has had a great influence on education and training, especially in the
period of renewing teaching methods.
Creating a lively and enjoyable learning environment plays an important
role in teaching and learning in high school. This environment is a means and
also the purpose of the teaching process in general and English in particular.
Because not all English learners love and have good self-study ability. So how
can an English teacher bring students exciting, always new, and stimulating
lessons? Each lesson not only inculcates knowledge, but also helps students to
always be impressed and remember the color of its vivid images and sounds, so
that students will easily remember the lesson when prompted. There are many
ways to express this form, but the way to leave the most impression is if the
design of interactive games (Interactive Quizes) and Interactive Activities
integrated into the lesson is essential. The weakness that has long been used by
teachers. However, how to design to attract students is not an easy thing if
teachers do not know how to use IT in school.
1.1. The reason for choosing the subject
Integrating into class lectures with visual and sound tools is a very
necessary job in the period of strong development of Information Technology.
Thereby, students will feel interested and attentive to learn because the lessons
are lively and interactive. But not all teachers can do it properly, so teaching
with the traditional method is the most popular way of teaching ever, or if there
are PowerPoint presentations, it's just a little effect. not yet able to create
activities as well as games that combine intensive Trigger tricks.
In order for the teacher to design some games as well as activities on the
slides that attract students, such as the Gameshow on television, special effects
are required when designing games and activities. moving.
From the above comments, with the desire to share the experiences that

I have gained when composing electronic lesson plans with Powerpoint,
especially the difficult problems of designing interactive games to teach English
effectively. that I have taught myself and accumulated over the years to all of my
colleagues, who are starting research or are not as proficient as I have in
previous years, in order to partly help colleagues reduce time. time for self-study
and research. That is why I chose the topic: "Designing interactive games on
PowerPoint software to teach English effectively for grade 7 students at Ba
Thuoc Ethnic Boarding Secondary school"
1.2.The research purpose
Trigger techniques or object programming are important terms applied
in this article and are not intended to guide teachers who are not proficient in
information technology to approach and become familiar with How to compose
a Powerpoint lesson combines interactive games. Also depending on the content

of the lessons in class, you may only need white chalk on a blackboard and the
traditional teaching steps will also be effective, but in some lessons, if you apply
slide shows, the effect will be much higher. Most teachers often only use
Powerpoint presentations in lecture sessions or in exams for Proficient Teachers
at all levels. But not all teachers prepare their own lessons if they need
animation tricks instead of monotonous slides. I myself have repeatedly had to
accompany my colleagues on exams to assist with the preparation of lessons and
the design of interactive games. In some schools English teachers sometimes
need the support of others.
From these facts, I write these solutions looking forward to sharing with
colleagues on how to effectively compose and design effects for games and
interactive activities on Powerpoint software.
1.3. The object of research
The research subjects in this article are mainly interactive games that
help students enjoy each lesson and some combined activities to support games

such as how to design a timer game space. An interesting thing is that each
lesson using information technology and integrated activities using the
presentation tools and Trigger techniques bring students excitement in learning,
which means the lesson. That is much more efficient.
1.4.The methods of research
During the study, I used the following methods:
- Survey and investigation were applied to investigate the quality of students
when they approached Informative Techonology with Microsoft Powerpoint
Software in English lessons
- Observation was applied to observe the activities of students during the
time they were included in English lessons
- Practice was applied when the teachers used Informative Techonology with
Microsoft Powerpoint Software to organize activities for students in English
lessons
- Analysis, statistics, synthesis, compararison and assessment were applied to
assess the progress of students when they approached the Informative
Techonology with Microsoft Powerpoint Software to learn English.
2. Content of experience initiative
2.1. Theoretical basis:
The application of information technology to teaching has been
mentioned for a long time and very specifically in the Education Directives such
as: Directive 29 on "Application and development of information technology in
education and training will makes a move basic in the process of renewing
content, programs, teaching methods, learning and educational management ".
Or “promoting the application of information technology in education and
training at all levels and levels. Studying under the guidance of information
technology as the most effective supporting tool for innovating teaching
methods in subjects”.

Especially, in the past school years is the year implementing the
Directive. No. 55/2008 dated September 30, 2010 of the Minister of Education
and Training on enhancing teaching, training and application of information
technology in the education sector with the theme “The year of accelerating
application information technology, financial management innovation and
building friendly schools, active students ”
From the school year 2015-2016, the Ministry of Education and
Training has implemented a Regular Training program through Modules,
including Module 19 on "Teaching with information technology" and Module 20
on "Strengthening usability. teaching equipment and application of information
technology in teaching”shows that applying information technology in each
lesson is very necessary.
Thereby helping teachers to have a deeper understanding of the
importance. as well as identifying the role of teaching devices in teaching
method innovation, especially equipment using information technology.
2.2. Practical basis:
To achieve the above goals effectively and increasingly improve in
quality and quantity, each school needs to equip more supporting devices such
as projectors, audio-visual rooms, audio equipment, etc…. Besides, there should
also be workshops and seminars to discuss how to prepare lectures to attract
more students, creating conditions for teachers to learn and exchange
experiences.
However, in the short term, when the above issues have not been
promptly met, it is essential that teachers self-study and self-study to prepare elesson plans to serve the teaching in general and for English subject in particular.
Actively visit classrooms, attend class time, participate in seminars to prepare
lectures to exchange, share and learn from colleagues so that we can apply
information technology quickly and effectively in each unit of the lesson.
Quality is the best thing.
From there, it partly meets the current needs as well as contributes to
building a friendly school with active students.

Most teachers clearly understand the importance and benefits of
applying information technology in teaching as well as integrating games when
teaching English, especially for junior high school students. The department
needs a lot of pictures, sounds, and video clips that illustrate the real life of the
language used. But up to now, there are still many teachers who hesitate to use
electronic lesson plans because they think that it will take time to prepare a
lesson. Conducting an elaborate lecture using live evidence on slides during
class sessions is something teachers often avoid and don't want to think about.
Lack of facilities is also one of the problems affecting teachers' teaching with the
projector. Since almost all schools are now equipped with projectors, but the
number is limited, teachers have difficulty if you want to use it regularly. Or
sometimes the same period with teachers of other subjects. That partly affects
the continuity of teachers' practice and teaching.
Most people say that through discussions with their peers, that people
often have the most difficulty in designing interactive games. That is apart from
the teacher organizing for the children to play the games, but the choice must be
up to the children, the teacher has not yet made it. Therefore, the games that
teachers let the children play under their "set" and practice in order are
sometimes repeated over and over, making them depressed for a long time. It is
understandable to avoid or ignore IT teaching on a regular basis in order to
return to the traditional method quickly.
In fact, in the area, schools and the Education Department have not been
able to organize e-lecture competitions between teachers for a long time, leading
to a lack of motivation for teachers to learn and practice lack of skills to design
E-lessons with in-depth effects.
2.4. Measures available to solve problem
In this article, I would like to present the steps to create effects when
designing interactive games as well as interactive activities on Powerpoint 2010
software. To take full advantage of the functions of the software, teachers should
choose. and install from Powerpoint 2007 or higher.

2.4.1. Design the Crosswords game:
This game can be used to Warm up (Review learned vocabulary). This is
also one of the very interesting games that they often see in the program Road to
Olympia in the obstacle course organized by VTV3 channel. Also with the
Trigger technique, it means that when you click on one object, the other will
appear. Students will listen to the teacher's suggestions to call out the correct
words including how many letters are prescribed. Students choose any row, not
required to choose in order. If the letters in the vertical column appear not all but
students can call out the keywords, when clicking on they can also appear
keywords.
An example for part Warm up- Unit 5. B3. It’s time for recess.

How to do it: First, you need to define the crossword and here I create a
text box with vertical rows with the keyword RECESS, of course there must be
6 corresponding horizontal lines.
Copy and paste them on top of each other. These boxes will select the
effect after the text is finished. draw the crossword but don't choose the effect.
Next, cover all newly created cells with your mouse.
+ Step 1: Start PPT
+ Step 2: Create cells 1 to 6 next to the horizontal rows.
+ Step 3: Right-click in the horizontal boxes, select Add Text to enter
the letters. After entering the horizontal letters, we will get a vertical row. Fill
these vertical lines with embossed color. select the link as box number 1. Click
OK and you're done. Do the same for the next horizontal rows 2-6.-> Start effect
on click of -> select Triggers -> Timing ->Choose Effect options ->After you
have entered the text in the first row, click to select all these boxes and choose
the effect that appears as Blinds. At the effect bar press the down arrow
Click OK to finish the process.->link at checkmark KEY WORD -> Triggers ->
Effect options ->Finally, select all vertical cells containing keywords RECESS

select Blinds again, then choose the effect of optional emphasis

Activities during break time

So I ended the design process on just one slide. And when manipulating
the game I can choose any line according to the student's request.
2.4.2. Designing multiple choice games (Multiple Choice):
This game supports teachers to create multiple choice exercises to
choose the correct answers, helping students practice Grammar as well as
vocabulary, social knowledge, ... Instead of directly showing questions and
questions. the answers on the projector, or on posters, or study cards, the design
through games with vivid effects will attract the participation of the children
much more, which means they are absorbing their lessons. will be more
effective.
+ Step 1: The teacher goes to Insert (1) on the taskbar, select Shapes (2),
then select the cell type and draw the question and answer boxes. Double-click
on the cells to choose the appropriate cell color and style. After that, teachers
click on the question box and write down the content of the question. Click in
the answer box to write your answer. I take the content as the example in the
picture with 4 options.

+ Step 2: Teachers create effects for the answer box A: On the taskbar,
choose Animation (1), click on cell A and choose Add Animation (2) choose Fill
color in Emphasis. Select the Animation Pane to see the changes on the right
side of the screen.

+ Step 3: To change the color of the answer box every time you click on
it, the teacher selects the box and selects the color in Effect Options (1), I choose
red for the wrong answers, then choose the time for the effect to change. (3), we

should choose 00,25 or 00,50 for faster effect. Hover the mouse over (4) to
know what is the name of the currently selected cell in response to answer A
(Rounded Rectangle 2).

+ Step 4: Next, choose the trigger effect when you click the answer A,
the box will turn red: Trigger -> On click of -> Rounded Rectangle 2. Do the
same with the rest of the answers, to be faster than we choose. Answer box A,
then double-click on the Animation Painter right below the Trigger box,
continue to move the mouse to the other answer boxes and click on it to paste,
immediately the effects of the boxes are the same as answer A, such as sentence
The answer to the question above is the correct answer B, so we choose another
color for B, the same action as the color selection step above answer A.

+ Step 5: Basically like that can be done, but to be more attractive I
create a box with the word Wrong (Wrong!) So that it appears every time you
click on the wrong answer and 1 box has the word Right (Right !) each time you
click on the correct answer. Go back to Step 1 create two cells as said.

+ Step 6: Create an effect for the cell Wrong !: We select Wrong cell!
then click Animation -> Add Animation -> More Entrance Effects -> Select
Basic Zoom -> Select Effect Options if you want to Zoom out or Zoom in.

Continue to select the Wrong box! and create 2 more appearances like that.
Click the Wrong box again to select all three effects, then customize the
appropriate time to appear in the Duration box in the upper right corner of the
screen.

In the picture above (on the Animation Pane frame) we see that the top 3

cells are the effects created in Wrong cell. We proceed to select cell 1, drag and
drop just below the arrowheads. Continue with cells 2 and 3. Note there is a
place where we do not drag (Rectangle 3) because that cell is the correct answer
(answer B). Right-click in cells 1,2,3 and select Start With Previous.
If you want the Wrong cell to disappear after each occurrence, click on the
Wrong box, choose Add Animation -> More Exit Effects-> Select Basic Zoom
(You can choose the effect as you like).
Click on the effect just created according to the arrow below and select
Trigger on the taskbar.

On the Trigger we choose On click of and select as shown (Point Star 6
is the disappearance effect of Wrong box):
+ Step 7: Continue to do the same effects with the box Right for answer
B. After that, the teacher will open the slideshow and check the results achieved.
In the games and activities above, I guided the steps very specifically with
pictures, so in the remaining games I would like to briefly describe, the taskbar
on the teachers to use interactively. yourself.
2.4.3.Design the game "Magic Hat"
The "Magic Hat" or “Megic wheel” game is a highly interactive
television game. In particular, we can apply this game to the curriculum of
subjects in general and English in particular. Through this game, teachers can
help students practice exercises such as answering questions, combined with
crossword puzzles, ...

The steps are as follows:
+ Step 1: Go to Google to search for "The magic hat rotation", teachers
can choose many beautiful patterns as you like, after downloading, you can cut
it into a square, inscribed circle and paste it into the Slide to create game.

+ Step 2: On the first slide, name the team that matches the class. Here I
create 2 teams to play on the right of the slide .-> To the left of the teacher go to
Insert -> Shapes to add a colored background to make the rotation stand out,
adjust the size accordingly -> In the background, teacher click Right and select
Send to back to bring the background tile behind the wheel, then add an arrow as
shown.

+ Step 3: To create a score box so that you can directly fill in the score
on the slide show, the teacher select the Developer tab on the toolbar as shown
above-> select the icon "ab" then draw on the slide (each The team has one box
to score directly next to).

At the newly created score box will not be visible because the same
color as the slide, so the teacher click on the score box and right click -> Select
Properties -> Appear to the left of the adjustment parameters -> BackColor
select the appropriate color -> At Font click on Arial choose the right font and
size -> Next, copy into many boxes corresponding to the team playing. Teachers
try the slideshow and score points in the box to see the results.

Note: If there is no Developer tab on the toolbar, go to File (upper left corner)
select Options -> Customize Ribbon -> In the Choose commands from column
select Main tab -> Select Developer and click Add on the right - > OK. Then the
teacher will see the Developer tab on the toolbar.
+ Step 4: Create random spins - On the toolbar, select Animations and
choose to add Animation Pane to show the control column on the right.

Click on the rotation -> Select Add animations on the toolbar -> At
Emphasis -> Select Spin (The left side of the wheel appears with effects number
1- Figure 1) -> Click on the rotation, continue to choose Add animations -> At

Exit, select Disappear (The left side of the wheel continues to appear number 2)
-> Click on effect number 2 (left of the wheel) -> At the Animation Pane on the
right side of the screen, select line 2 -> Point down select Start After Previous ->
Done click on effect number 1 (on the left of the wheel, right click on it if there
will be an error in the effect) -> In the Animation Pane on the right (Figure 2) - >
Where there is an arrow pointing down The teacher selects Timing ..-> Trigger
-> Start effect on click of -> I choose Text box 4: Points according to my design
so that when clicking on the Point box on the rotating slide will rotate -> Done,
click OK.
If the teacher wants to rotate 360 ° (turn 1 round) or 720 ° (rotate 2
turns) then go back to the Animation Pane -> Timing ... -> select the magazine
Effect -> Two Spins -> OK, If you want to create a sound effect, now at Effect
-> Sound -> select a custom sound every time you press the wheel -> OK.
(Picture 1) (Picture 2)
+ Step 5: Copy the wheel - In the picture above, I click on the available
wheel -> Press Cltrl + C to copy -> Press Cltr + V to create a copy, pull it aside
for easy viewing-> I click on effect No. 1 on the top left of the copy -> In the

Animation Pane on the right side of the slide I continue to select where the down
arrow is pointing down -> Timing ..-> Trigger -> Start effect on click of -> I
choose Text box 4: Points -> Next click on the copy-> put the mouse on the
arrow above (Figure 1) -> Rotate the copy to select any point (the score is right
at the arrow box Point is the point you want to select) -> Done continue to click
on the copy -> Right click -> Click Send to Back -> Done drag it into the center
of the original rotation (Drag until two perpendicular lines appear dot the dot
then release)
To create more random scores, teachers just repeat the copy and create
the same effect. By the last rotation, the teacher does not create the Disappear
effect, the wheel will not disappear.

2.4.4. Design a countdown timer to calculate game time:
The goal of this activity is to help teachers set the time limit for students
to do a game or activity if time is needed. In this part, I would like to instruct
you to create a countdown timer from 20 to 0. If you need to make the length for
how many seconds, you can adjust the number as you like.
+ Step 1: Click Insert on the Menu bar, then click Shape to select a
frame for the clock:

+ Step 2: In the Shape window, choose one of the following icons to be
the Start button on the slide show. I selected the rectangle to create the Start
frame and the circle to create the clock. After creating the Start rectangle and
clock circle, hover your mouse over that frame and right click then select Edit
text. In the rectangle you enter START, in the circle I enter 20.

+ Step 3: Set the effect for the box number 20: Click to select frame
number 20 (Click the whole frame, not highlight the number 20), on the Menu
bar choose Animation (1), then choose Add animation (2) to choose Effects
appear, here you choose Entrance and choose the desired effect (I choose
Zoom), then click the Animation Pane (3) to monitor the results on the right side
of the screen.
+ Step 4: Set the Trigger property so that when you click on START, cell
number 20 appears. Finished click OK

Finished, teachers open the slide show and try to click on START box to
see the results.
+ Step 5: Teachers copy cell number 20 and edit it to cell number 19,
copy cell number 19 and edit cell number 18, ... so copy and edit until cell
number 0 is fine (Figure 1). Note: Teachers must follow the order or the
presentation will be turned upside down.

On the Animation pane (Figure 2) to the right of the teacher, move the
mouse and click on Oval 19 then move the mouse down, press Shift and select
Oval 0 to select all. Click the arrow at Oval 0 then click on Timing .. and Effect
and select the parameters as shown below, then click OK.

+ Step 6: Teachers stack all the boxes together. So we have a countdown
timer.
Note: To make a countdown timer, the teacher only needs to do the
same, but change the number from small to large. And we can change format
lively.
An example using the countdown timer for part Warm up- Unit 13. A
1,2. Sports:

2.5. The effectiveness of the initiative experience
After testing the lessons using interactive games and taking statistics
from 7A and 7B classes, I found that the above measures are highly feasible and
effective. Thereby, we can see that the children's learning attitude has been
improved positively, the quality of teaching has improved. The result after
applying the experient in school year: 2018-2019:

With the above data, I think the design of slideshow lesson plans with
programming effects for interactive activities is a necessary job, especially for
the highly communicative lessons. Helping students to play while studying,
giving them the passion for English.
It can be said that if English teachers have a high level of expertise in
informatics, they can make their lectures simple but lively and beautiful. But
with a basic level of understanding and a little more learning, teachers can also
create very effective lessons. The problem is that we know what we are doing,
applying where to achieve optimal efficiency. Through seminars and
discussions, I think this article can be deployed not only in English but also in

other subjects.

Anyway, the PPT lesson plan is just a demonstration software that
supports the lesson. Therefore, it is necessary to have a flexible coordination
with blackboard white chalk to create the best results. The PPT lesson plan is not
necessarily used in all classes. We should only apply it to difficult lessons with
lots of interactive activities.
Through this article, teachers who are not proficient in information
technology will no longer find it difficult to design interactive games with vivid
effects. This helps teachers feel more confident while designing and using the
slideshow lesson plan. English is a unique subject, generally difficult. In each
lesson, there are many activities with different skills, so the use of support tools
is very necessary, especially presentation tools because it is modern and
necessary in the period of public development. Information technology If you
apply the above tips well, the teachers will help students feel more interested in
learning and love English more and more. From there, the quality of teaching
will also go up.
3. Conclusions and recommendations
3.1. Conclusions:
With my passion for English subjects and my interest in information
technology, I have researched to write these little experiences, I hope I will share
them with many other friends and colleagues because I know that there are still
many colleagues are starting or still have a lot of difficulties when composing an
e-lesson plan without knowing who to ask like me a few years ago.
Along with the power of information technology and my own learning
from various resources, topical classes, drawn from past old solutions, I have
learned many useful things in the process. the process of applying its initiative in
teaching periods.
3.2. Recommendations

3.2.1. For the education sector:
- Organize regularly annual seminars to give English teachers the
opportunity to learn and exchange experiences in teaching.
- Organize competitions to compose PPT lesson plans and Violet lesson
plans to encourage teachers to participate in order to develop well skills in
preparing electronic lesson plans.
3.2.2. For schools:
- Equip with additional teaching aids such as speakers, radio, and
especially, add projectors right in the classrooms as well as common classrooms,
practice rooms to help teachers have conditions to regularly use projectors in
teaching periods.
3.2.3. For English teachers:
- Increase class visits to attend classes using information technology to
learn and exchange experiences with each other.
- Conducting topics in the subject group on how to design presentation
lesson plans.

Teaching is an art, there is no unique method, and not all classes use
information technology, but teachers also need to be flexible in writing lessons
and going to class to bring highly effective for each teaching period.
It is possible that my experience is still very limited and limited, but I
hope to help some of my colleagues and hope to receive sincere encouragement
and suggestions from experienced teachers to help me fill in the shortcomings
and improve my article more completely.
Thank you very much for reading !
