UNIT 12: A VACTION ABROAD.

Lesson 2: Speak

I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1. Knowledge:use structures of giving requests, offers, promises well; listen
and put the pictures in correct order.

2. Skills:develop listening and speaking skills.

3. Attitude: show their positive attitude in learning English. 
II. Language contents:

1. Vocabulary:

- Wheelchair (n); crutch (n); eye chart (n); scale (n); stretcher (n).
2. Grammar:

- Requests:Can/ Could you…?/ Will/ Would you…?
Sure./ OK./ All right…

- Offers:Would you like…?/ What can I get for you?/ Shall I…?
Yes, please./ That would be nice

- Promises: I will I promise…/ I promise I won’t…/ I promise to…
 I hope so./ Good./ I’m glad./ Don’t forget.

1. Teacher: textbook, cassette, tape, pictures, sub-board, chalks.

- T: introduce the situation. Then elicit
some new words through explanation,
translation, pictures.

- T: have ss practice pronunciation.
- Ss: read in chorus then read
individually, finally copy down in their
notebook.

Checking vocabulary:

“Rub out and remember”

- T: ask students read the flight
information, advertisement then answer
the questions to get information

1. How many flights a week can you take
from Los Angles to Boston?(weak ss)

2. Which flight can you take everyday of 
a week?(medium ss)

3. Which hotel is cheaper?(weak &

Rervere hotel? How about the Atlantic

* While-speaking:

- T: guide the requests of exercises.
- Ss: look at the brochures and flight
information and then answer some
questions about the information to help
them understand before doing exercises.

Write it up

- Asks Them to write a complete writing
about the difference of the life in the
past and now

- Calls on some Ss to demonstrate in

front of class .

- Corrects common mistakes .

Activity 2: Listen (eliciting, practicing,
observing, guessing, group work)

* Pre-listening:

- T: introduce the situation. Then elicit
some new words through explanation,
translation, pictures.

- Ss: listen.

- T: have ss practice pronunciation.
- Ss: read in chorus then read
individually, finally copy down in their
notebook.

Checking vocabulary:
“Matching”

- T: ask Ss to look at the boxes which
they have to fill in after listening.
- Asks Ss predict which they are going
to hear.

- Ss: predict then give their ideas.
- T: get their prediction.

* While-listening:

- Ss: listen to the tape then check their

predictions.

- T: ask ss to listen to the tape again then
fill in the table.

- Ss: think of the words which they have
listened. (1-2 minutes).

- T: turn on the radio again (1-2
minutes).

- Ss: give the words for each place.
- T: give the answer and correct the
mistakes.

* Post-listening: (asking, answering,
pair work)

- Asks Ss to talk about the weather in
different country use information in
listen part.
