Organization Pillar Overview





Organization Pillar Purpose

The purpose of the Organization Pillar is to provide tools and capability to deliver behaviors which support
achieving the compelling business need, leveraging 100% employee involvement and zero defect
mentality.

The vision of teams operating at zero defects without outside intervention is a core part of the IWS vision.
This vision can only be achieved by building the capability of each individual and the total capability of the
team. While all pillars in IWS help build organization capability, THE ORGANIZATION PILLAR
PROVIDES THE METHODS TO ASSESS, DESIGN AND RENEW OUR HIGH PERFORMING WORK
SYSTEMS AND ASSOCIATED BEHAVIORS.

Why do we need the Organization Pillar?

The purpose of IWS is to create the differential capability to achieve higher levels of results or to achieve
desired results faster through:

• a cultural change led by Total Employee Involvement and Zero Defect Behaviors (illustrated in
the IWS vision)
• making IWS the way we do work --- one way to manage every issue and strategy

Since all change begins and ends with Leadership, the Organization Pillar must provide the tools and
methods to help leadership assess the current state vs. the future and develop appropriate plans to move
the organization towards the vision.

Organization Pillar Activities

The charts on the following pages show the steps of the Organization Pillar along with their respective
phases. Detailed information on each of the steps is provided in the following chapter.
