Unit 13: FESTIVALS Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED – LISTEN AND READ I-Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: + Talk about the Vietnamese festivals. + Proud of their country and want to introduce with foreign friends. + Know the structure and the use of compound word. Skills: Speaking, reading, writing and listening. Getting started-listen and read: + Ask for explanation of events. + Give an account of something. + Vocabulary: Rice-cooking festival, water-fetching contest, fire-making, starting position, yell, husk, separate, urge. + Grammar structure: - Passive form: be + past participle. - Compound word. Anticipated problems: Sts may do not know the name of Vietnamese festivals in English. II. Teaching aids: •Text book, chalk, projector... •Picture. •Cassette, tape. III. Procedures: Stages Interaction Warm-up (5’). T – Class. Procedures +Getting-started: T gives a Vietnam’s map in which has some places in Vietnam and puts hypothesis: “Imagine that we have five foreign friends coming to Vietnam from different countries. Each person has a hobby: + Tom likes swimming and sunbathing. + David is interested in ancient cities. + Huckleberry likes mountain-climbing. + Oliver is keen on pottery..
