Lesson 25- Sea Trial
The trial run of an ocean-going vessel is usually referred to as the sea trial, for the
vessel shall undertake the overall performance test at sea.
According to the shipbuilding practice the representatives from the ship-owner and
the classification society shall be present on board during the sea trial. The ship builder
shall bear all the expenses in connection with the trial run of the vessel. In addition, the
builder shall also prepare necessary ballast ( fresh water and sea water and such other
ballast as may be required) to bring the vessel to the trial load draft.
Ships for different purposes will be subject to different tests. However, the main test
items are as the following without exception:
(1) to check the reliability of the power plant including the main engine,the auxiliary
machinery and other relevant equipment;
(2)to confirm the performance of all the other equipment that contribute to the
successful sailing of the ship;
(3)to conduct the anchoring test;
(4)to check the sea-keeping performance of the vessel:
a. speed trial under different working conditions;
b. inertia test;
c. turning test to determine the turning circle of the vessel.
Upon the completion of the sea trial, the ship-owner or the owner's supervisor shall notify
the shipyard in writing within specified time of its acceptance or its rejection of the vessel
together with the reasons therefor. If the vessel or any part of it does not conform to the
concerned requirements, the ship builder shall investigate with the owner's supervisor the
cause of the failure. And proper steps shall be taken to remedy the defects including
possible re-trial run as necessary. In the meantime, the shipyard may begin to prepare for
all the documents for the delivery of the vessel. Among the documents are the Protocol of
Trials of the vessel, Protocol of Inventory of the equipment of the vessel including spare
parts and the like, Protocol of Stores of Consumable Nature, Finished Drawings and
Plans pertaining to the Vessel, Protocol of Deadweight and Inclining Experiment and all
certificates required to be furnished upon the delivery of the vessel.

When all the defects have been remedied or repaired, the ship is ready for delivery.
After the concerned parties sign the documents for delivery and acceptance of the vessel,
the ship will soon set out on her maiden voyage with the blessing from her builder, her
owner and other sides who have contributed toward the creation of her grandeur.

BÀI 27-CHẠY THỬ TRÊN BIỂN
Việc chạy thử một tàu biển thường được coi là thử trên biển vì con tàu sẽ được
tiến hành thử mọi tính năng trên biển cả.Căn cứ theo thực tế đóng tàu,các đại diện của
chủ tàu và đăng kiểm sẽ có mặt trên tàu trong cuộc thử trên biển.Người đóng tàu sẽ chịu
mọi chi phí có liên quan tới việc chạy thử con tàu.Thêm vào đó ,người đóng tàu cũng sẽ
chuẩn bị các balát cần thiết (nước ngọt và nước biển cũng như những vật dằn khác nếu
thấy cần thiết ) để đưa con tàu về trạng thái mớn thử tải.Con tàu có mụcđích khác nhau sẽ
được thử khác nhau.
Tuy nhiên,những hạng mục thử chính sẽ như sau không có ngoại trừ:
(1) kiểm tra độ tin cậy của hệ động lực bao gồm máy chính,máy phụ và các thiết
bị có liên quan
(2) khẳng định tính năng của tất cả các thiết bị khác đóng góp cho việc con tàu
hoạt động tốt trên biển.
(3)tiến hành thử neo
(4) kiểm tra tính hàng hải của tàu ;
a.thử tốc độ trong những điều kiện làm việc khác nhau
b.thử quán tính c.thử lượn vòng để xác định bán kính lượn vòng của tàu.
Ngay sau khi hoàn tất việc thử trên biển,chủ tàu hay giám sát của chủ tàu sẽ lưu ý
nhà máy đóng tàu bằng văn bản trong khoảng thời gian đã định về việc chấp nhận hay từ
chối nhận con tàu với những lý do kèm theo.Nếu con tàu hay bộ phận nào đó của tàu
không phù hợp với những yêu cầu có liên quan,người đóng tàu sẽ cùng giám sát của chủ
tàu khảo sát nguyên nhân gây ra tình trạng không phù hợp.Và những bước thích hợp sẽ
được áp dụng để sửa chữa các khiếm khuyết kể cả có thể phải chạy thử lại nếu thấy cần
thiết.Trong lúc đó ,nhà máy có thể bắt đầu chuẩn bị tất cả các văn bản cần thiết để bàn
giao con tàu .Trong số các văn bản có Biên bản thử tàu .Biên bản kiểm kê trang thiết bị
của tàu trong đó có phụ tùng dự trữ và các thứ khác,Biên bản kho các dụng cụ tiêu
dùng,Bản vẽ và sơ đồ hoàn công có liên quan tới con tàu ,Biên bản Trọng tải và
thửnghiêng và tất cả các chứng chỉ cần thiết phải cung cấp khi bàn giao tàu.Khi tất cả các
khiếm khuyết đã được khắc phục hay sửa chữa ,con tàu đã sẵn sàng được bàn giao.Sau
khi các bên hữu quan ký văn bản bàn giao và chấp nhận con tàu ,chẳng bao lâu con tàu

lên đường thực hiện chuyến đi đầu tiên,chuyến đi trinh nữ với những lời chúc phúc nhận
được từ người chế tạo ,chú tàu và các bên đã đóng góp cho việc tạo ra dáng vẻ hùng vĩ
cao sang của Nàng .
