UNIT 1: A VISIT FROM A PEN PAL LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED – LISTEN AND READ I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to introduce their fatherland to a foreigner pen pal about some famous places in Ha Noi such as Hoan Kiem Lake, Ho Chi Minh museum, history museum… II. PREPARATIONS: Textbook, cassette player. III. PROCEDURES: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES 1. Warm-up: (5’) - Show 6 pictures of famous places in VietNam, then ask: + Where are they? - Ask Ss to call out the name of the pictures.. - Have Ss tell some attractive places in their local. 2. Presentation: (15’)  Activity 1: - Introduce the situation of the passage: “Razali Maryam, Lan’s pen pal visited her for the fist time and Lan took her to some places of interest in Hanoi.” - Play cassette once the 1st paragraph, then ask them questions: + What do you know about Maryam? - Get Ss to listen all the text, and ask + Where did Lan take Maryam? - Play cassette again, and point out some vocabulary. 1.
