F
or more than 20 years, KRONE
Australia has maintained a leading
position in the Australian IT&T market,
demonstrating consistent excellence in
manufacturing processes, brand
marketing and product innovation.
This year has been one of our most
successful yet, with the release of several
market-leading products. The release of
the Quick Connect General Purpose
outlet (GPO) in June caused a lot of
interest in the market place. The GPO
utilises KRONE’s unique LSA-PLUS
®
contact principle, resulting in up to
200% faster wire termination. Feedback from
our customers indicates that of all the recent
advances in electrical products, the GPO
termination method is probably the most
significant.
The soon to be released Quick Connect Ceiling
Power Outlet (CPO) is another joint development
between KRONE Australia and Gerard Industries.
Like the GPO, the CPO utilises KRONE’s

innovative LSA-PLUS quick connection
technology to make wire connection faster and
easier. The development of the CPO involved
many months of research and development and
has resulted in a power outlet that will reduce
installation time by 75%.
Designed and developed in Australia, our
HIGHBAND range of products are the highest
performing products of their type in the world.
The soon to be released Category 6 compliant
HIGHBAND 25 solution is the culmination of
more than two years of research and
development. We have invested millions of
dollars to ensure that our HIGHBAND 25 solution
will exceed your expectations. Our
advancements in cable management place this
solution well ahead of the competition.
Consumer confidence in the KRONE brand
continues to increase and our Access
NET
HighTIME conference held in Melbourne, in July,
confirms this. More than 70 delegates attended
this year’s conference making it the biggest ever!
The feedback from all in attendance was very
positive. Thank you to all that participated.
I would like to thank all of you who responded
to our Customer Feedback Questionnaire in the
last issue of Network News. It is gratifying to see
that our products and service continue to exceed
your expectations.

As market leader we are committed to the
continued development of leading edge
technology.
Sincerely
Craig Jones

performance beyond imagination, allowing
networks to carry the most advanced
applications. Today, every standards based
application will run on a HIGHBAND structured
cabling system.
Success in the private market has resulted in
HIGHBAND being installed in some of the
highest profile public networks throughout the
world. Network providers such as Hong Kong
Telecom and Singapore Telecom have built their
networks on KRONE HIGHBAND. HIGHBAND,
ensures flawless delivery of Broadband services.
In response to growing global demand in both
the Access and Premises markets, KRONE
Australia has developed a 25 pair HIGHBAND
module. As the R&D Centre of Competence for

the Indo-Pacific region and one of only two A-
Class manufacturers in the KRONE group, we
were the obvious choice to develop and
manufacture the HIGHBAND 25.
HIGHBAND 25 is a high-density cross-connect
solution that will set new standards for network
performance and functionality. An integral part
of the new Premis
NET
®
GLOBAL LEADER
solution, HIGHBAND 25 is backed by our
TrueNet

Zero Bit Error guarantee for maximum
data throughput.
The HIGHBAND 25 module is the only 25 pair
module available on the market that features the
unique KRONE 45°, silver plated contact
principle and disconnect feature, which allows
for “Patch by Exception”(PBE). Utilising the PBE
method, network managers can decrease
installation costs and improve cabling methods
at the cross-connect.
KRONE’s patented LSA-PLUS
®
, 45° contacts
offer an integrated Insulation Displacement
Connection (IDC) system for mechanical and
electrical connection. Special attention to

maximum contact reliability regardless of
climatic and ambient conditions results in a high
degree of technical security through a gas-tight,
low resistance joint. The LSA-PLUS contact has
become the standard connection method in
more than 150 countries around the world.
HIGHBAND 25, combined with the recently
released KM8 jack and TrueNet cable, provides
maximum flexibility, Category 6 performance
and the unique TrueNet throughput warranty.
The new HIGHBAND 25, high-density solution
is particularly well suited to enterprises utilising a
high saturation of voice and data services. As
traditional voice and data platforms converge
and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) becomes
prevalant the HIGHBAND 25 provides the
optimum interface (More will be provided on this
in future issues of Network News). The
innovative patch cord design provides the most
user-friendly and cost effective cross-connect
available in the world today.

THE HIGHBAND LEGACY CONTINUES

by Peter Davis, Sales and

In 1995, KRONE’s HIGHBAND

family of cross-connect products
revolutionised the structured cabling market.

cross-connect
solution.
The release of HIGHBAND Ultim8 solution in
1998 took network performance to even greater
heights. More than four years later, this is still the
highest performing cross-connect module on the
market.
The new HIGHBAND 25 solution performs well
beyond the recently released Category 6

standard.
The HIGHBAND 25 module combined with
innovative patch cordage, superior cable
management, excellent labelling facilities and
the ever-reliable KRONE LSA-PLUS
®
contact
principle, results in a solution that provides
network administrators with the peace of mind
that they have purchased the best structured
cabling products available.
The HIGHBAND 25 solution comprises:
HIGHBAND 25 MODULE
Colour coded for ease of termination, the
HIGHBAND 25 module allows six, four pair
(Category 6) cables to be terminated. There is
also a variant available that is numbered 1 to 25
for termination of 25 pair cables.
The contact is silver plated and positioned at
45° to the axis of the wire. This ensures
maximum copper conductor remains at the
point of wire termination. The contacts have
constant torsional restoring forces ensuring a gas
tight termination on the wire conductor. As with
all LSA-PLUS contacts, there are clamping ribs on
the plastic housing to ensure mechanical
integrity of the connection and to remove any
stress caused by movement of the wire.
The HIGHBAND 25 is a disconnect module,
which means that the top and bottom rows of

the module are connected by two contacts
pressed against each other. The disconnect
feature allows for Patch by Exception (PBE), ease
of testing, quick disconnect of faulty computers
from the network and ease of monitoring of
network performance.
REAR CABLE MANAGER
The rear cable manager provides cable
management for incoming cables and makes
installation easier. The incoming cables are
simply routed through the slots provided and are
held in place by built in clips. The slots direct the
cable to the point of termination and hold the
cable whilst each pair of wires is terminated. This
eliminates the need for velcro ties to hold the
cable to the module.
MOUNTING FRAME
The 300 pair mounting
frame is made from high-
grade stainless steel,
providing strength and
corrosion resistance. The
frame is made with extra
depth to allow for strict
Category 6 bend radius
requirements and velcro
tie points have been
added to allow for tidy
installation practices and
ease of cable routing.

The module mounting
holes have been placed at
exact intervals to hold the
module firmly in place.
Cable troughs are mounted at both the top
and bottom of each vertical to ensure correct
cabling practices between verticals and to assist
with the appearance of the overall frame.

PATCH CORDS
The innovative design of the patch
cords provides for a neat and tidy
solution. The cords are directed to
the rear of the module and then fed
into the vertical cable managers.
The fully compliant Category 6
cords are available in both four pair and four pair
to RJ45 configurations. Each patch cord can be

individually labelled and a variety of colours are
available to help identify specific services.
A one pair patch cord is also available to patch
voice applications or to do single pair testing.
The plugs are manufactured from a durable,
high impact polycarbonate material
that has strength superior
to other plastics -
ensuring fault free
connection every
time.
VERTICAL CABLE MANAGERS
The vertical managers provide excellent cable
management between frames and are available
in single and dual versions. The cable managers
slot directly into the mounting frame and are
held firmly in place to ensure correct positioning.
The single version is suitable when space is at
a premium or where an additional cable
manager is required beside the first or last
vertical frame. The dual version is ideal for
positioning between verticals. Both versions
provide easy access for patch cords or hard
wiring and hold the cables away from the face of
the modules, improving the whole appearance
of the frame.
To allow for ease of
purchasing, the entire
range of HIGHBAND
products are

available in kit form.

Did you know . . .
Patch By Exception was
invented by KRONE nearly
ten years ago. Others now
copy as if it’s new.
Structured cabling forms the fundamental infrastructure critical to
network efficiency and reliability.
R
ecent studies show that over 70 percent of
network downtime can be directly attributed
to physical layer problems – specifically cabling
related faults. Network downtime not only

causes frustration to employees and customers,
it can virtually cripple a company’s business
operations, resulting in thousands of dollars in
lost productivity and failed business transactions.
No matter how state-of-the-art your active
network is, if your cabling system is of poor
quality your entire network performance will be
degraded.
Technologies that form the backbone of
today’s business communications systems such
as Internet, e-mail, multimedia conferencing and
e-commerce were still in their infancy just a few
years ago. Your cabling system needs to be able
to accommodate your current communications
requirements and provide the scope to plan
ahead. With this in mind – will your cabling
system be able to handle the demands that will
be placed on your network in the years to come?
A Premis
NET
®
structured cabling solution from
KRONE, Australia’s leading connectivity provider,
gives you complete peace of mind. Premis
NET
offers the highest performing, most complete
copper and fibre structured cabling system on
the market.
Our Premis
NET

warranty has recently been
updated with the introduction of the KRONE

KRONE. If a problem is found in the cabling
infrastructure, KRONE will repair or replace
products in accordance with our warranty

program.
In addition, KRONE will support future
applications that meet the AS/NZS 3080:2002
component and permanent link channel
requirements for the cabling system.
We have covered the latest industry
requirements from both a regulation and
commercial aspect and this is reflected in our
new warranty application and agreement
documentation.
KRONE ENDORSED INSTALLERS
KRONE endorses only those companies that
display the highest standard of expertise and
