Introduction
The LoopStar 714 and LoopStar 718 are tailored to help service providers reach their off-net customers and reduce
service fees at the same time. The LoopStar 714 offers highly manageable 10/100 customer access and up to four
T1/E1s (eight T1/E1s for the LoopStar 718) for the network connection. These T1/E1s are bonded using the standard
Multilink Point-to-Point Protocol (MLPPP), offering up to 12 Mb/s (T1) or 16 Mb/s (E1) of service. Additional lines can
be added as necessary, and with a simple-to-use Graphical User Interface (GUI), provisioning new circuits has never
been easier. And the LoopStar products come equipped with LoopStar 700 intelligent management, designed to
support remote service provisioning, verification, and troubleshooting. From RMON counters and Ethernet / WAN
loopbacks to a built-in Ethernet port Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) test, from complete Layer 2+ classification
and service definition to link quality monitoring and reporting, the LoopStar 714 and LoopStar 718 provide the
flexibility and scalability to deliver customer-specific solutions and support with pinpoint accuracy.

The LoopStar 711 is a fixed configuration, multi-service access platform offering cost-effective and easy-
to-manage Ethernet and TDM-based services that allow for the full utilization of fiber networks. The
LoopStar 711 offers the complete suite of LoopStar 700 software, AC or DC power options, patented

T1/E1 circuit emulation, intelligent management and a mix of connectivity choices, creating a multi-serv-
ice access platform remarkably versatile for its price point.
The LoopStar 711 comes equipped with two 100Base-FX ports, four 10/100Base-T ports and two
T1/E1/J1 ports for circuit emulation services.
The LoopStar 711 is uniquely designed to offer fiber extension transport, as well as the services that
require this transport. Usually deployed at the customer premise, this product can create a resilient infra-
structure ideally suited for a variety of applications.

The LoopStar 712 offers the complete suite of LoopStar 700 software with full support for both
differentiated Ethernet or legacy services, AC or DC power options, intelligent management and a mix
of connectivity choices. When used in conjunction with the Protected Switching Ring (PSR) technology,
the LoopStar 712 can be used to build cost-effective resilient optical Ethernet rings at any size location,
providing customers with the reliability and speeds they desire.

The LoopStar 712 comes equipped with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, four 10/100Base-T ports and two
T1/E1/J1 ports with circuit emulation services.
The versatility of the LoopStar 712 allows providers to reach small- to medium-size customers
and offer a wide variety of connectivity speeds and services. In addition, these customers can take
advantage of the sub-50 millisecond resiliency of PSR to ensure the reliable delivery of services. Since the
LoopStar 712 offers all of the same feature sets as the LoopStar 750 and LoopStar 722, it can also be a
cost-effective entry point to ensure all locations are equally serviced.

For Ethernet services to fully deliver on the promise of
lower costs and higher reliability, remote management of
the network becomes essential—especially as subscriber
numbers increase. Remote isolation of troubles and
performance monitoring are minimum requirements for
carrier-class Ethernet service.
Service providers can now create an intelligent Ethernet
management platform with ADC’s Ethernet Network
Interface Unit (ENIU). Installed at the remote premise, the

ENIU provides the demarcation point between the
customer and carrier network. By providing the ability to
sectionalize the network at the customer interface, the ENIU enables the carrier to remotely assess
whether trouble conditions reside within the carrier or customer network.
