1. Manchester United Football Club is the richest sports team in the world

Fristly

Secondly

Thirdly

They have something

Man U has better players,

Compared to United, the other side

that many teams don’t

better coaches, better

looks weak. The visiting players

have: That’s a lot of

equipment and better

know that it is almost impossible to

money

salaries

win a game against Man United

2. Money is a clean advantage for these professional teams

◉ For example:
 In 2008, Manchester United paid Cristiano Ronaldo more than $18 million
 They paid Wayne Rooney more than $16 million
◉ As a result, these teams have been very successful. Manchester United won
championships in 2006, 2008 and 2009

First
They can sell tickets
at high prices

Second

Third

Large companies give

teams to broadcast their

financial support to the best

games

teams

To sum up, these corporate sponsors pay money so that their company name can be on the clubs’ as shirts, shoes and
stadiums.

4. The recent success of the English team Chelsea shoss an example of the
effect of money on a team

But everything changed in 2003 when Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich bought the
team for $233 million and spent more than $350 million on players. By 2006, Chelsea
had won two championships

And now Chelsea is one of the richest clubs in the world

5. Many sports fans feel that money in sports creates an unfair advantage

Reason 2: Wealthy teams sell
Reason 1: Some teams have so

more tickets and make more

much money that it seems

money and teams that don’t have

unpossible for poorer clubs to

as much money very difficult for

beat them

them to get money from tickets,
television….

6. These are no easy solutions to this prolem, but there are some

possibilities
Some people think that rich teams could share some of their money with
the poorer ones
Another solution is to put a limit on the amount of money that teams can
spend on player salaries
However, finding and agreeing upon the best solusion is very complicated
