2. INTRODUCTION
2.1 Problems of Dam Rong Lake
- Water is polluted by organic matters, nitrogen
- Air is polluted by bad smell from the lake all year round

2. 2. The reasons
- Non-treatment drainage without treatment flows directly
in to the lakes. It causes bad smell, especially, in dry season
- Solid Wastes from the households around the lake (nylon
bags, organic waste etc)

2.3. Suggested Solutions
- Build new sewerage system to collect drainage
- Collect bottom mud
⇒both of the solutions are not available (do not have budget) and
low effect
- Or some people even said that we should fill in this lake (the
important role of the lake is rain water storaged)
- Flow water hyacinth. They have done but mosquito appear to
much.

The problems of the lake has not been solved yet.

pollution problem by environmental technology.

1. Environmental education: at Vo Thi Sau Primary School Through
activities: town watching, camping..etc
2. Propaganda to raise up community awareness about environmental
issues (through public media, meeting etc). Develop some outside activities:
waste collection, clean up the road, public area…

3. Apply eco-technology to reduce the polution of the lake

3.3.2. Science solution: Apply eco-technology
method
a. Purpose

1. Do experiment and find a right eco-technology solution to
help reducing water pollution
2. Prove the possibility to control the pollution problems of
eco-technology method. It would help to call on the supports from
local government, community, government organizations etc. for
solving the problems of the lake.
b. Eco-technology methods:
1. Wet land filter system
2. Floating filter system
3. Increase the self-clean ability of eco-system
Notice: The pollution cannot be reduce if we do not apply eco-technology
solution

3.4.1. Community awareness has been raised up
Community people attend to collect waste;
make net for solid waste collection…positively



3.4.2. Get the supports of local government
Provide budget to make fence around the lake and collect
bottom mud; have plan to build eco-park for community people

is still polluted (organic matters, nitrate etc.)

4. CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS
4.1. CONCLUSION:
a. The results from Environmental Education Acitvities:
- The awareness of the community about environmental
issues has been raised up. For example:
- The citizens here do not throw gabbage in to the lake or
public areas; they have arranged a couple day in a month to
collect solid wastes, clean up the road, public areas in their
ward...
- The local government has developed some activities to
improve the environment of this ward.
- The cooperation between government and the community
has been established. It would help to solve the
environmental problems here easier.

b.The results from applying Eco-Technology :
- This method (floating filter and wet land filter module) is
suitalbe in order to control the pollution of the lake.
Envinronment has been improved (water quality is better,
ecosystem is recovered…)
4.2. SUGGESTIONS:

- It is very necessary to continue developed solutions
(environmental education and environmental technology
method in larger areas)
